Progress Report,
12-hours more on my Justice League build.
Cut, clamped, and tack welded in all major inside and outside clad panels.
Clad panels are used to attach other frame modifications.
Will continue on the work left to do on the core frame and add on modifications. Lots of welding.

Looks massive! Is the quarter inch just for structural parts or will you use it for body panels as well?

Depends on how weight starts to add up. Might have to drop down to 1/8" for body panels.

I highly recommend switching all non-structural body panels to something like 20 gauge sheet metal, or 18 gauge at most... to keep cost, weight, and maneuverability within reason.
those other thicknesses are complete overkill for the body. 1/8 steel alone is more than bulletproof in the real world, and you'd outweigh the larger scale movie vehicle by another ton at least when you were done.

Thanks for the information. 18-20 gauge seems reasonable.

1/4 inch plate at a 45 degree angle will deflect 50 cal without flinching...

Progress Report,
12-hours more on my Justice League build.
Finished core welding together dual tube assemblies.
Clamped dual tube assemblies to exterior clad panels and partially welded them in place.
Burned 10 lbs of welding rods on some seams of major inside and outside clad panels.
Will continue on the work left to do on the core frame and add on modifications. Lots of welding.

Progress Report,
3-hours more on my Justice League build.
Calculated out an attachment panel and cut out a life size wood template that will be used to cut one for each side in steel.
Will continue on the work left to do on the core frame and add on modifications. Lots of welding.
