It doesn't look like much in the pictures but in real life it seems pretty heavy duty...

Now you might be wondering if its so good why isn't it on the Rumbler. Well Don says it needs to have some deep welding done and he'd rather do it in his shop that to use our little wire welder......So it will be one of the last thins installed along with the wheel stabilize shocks. The front reverse shocks under the control arms and the rear fender assembly....... Now get back to work and finish the Tumbler...hehehe.....BWD

THANKS 4REALS!!!!
Thank you dave for the pictures and the explanation. Interesting setup - like a square U. I can see by the pic (and by your explanation) how it works. This looks like it stabilizes the rear of the vehicle evenly while some panhard bars setups favor one side more than the other - especially when cornering.
I thought it was not on the Rumbler cause it's being packed for shipping to Long Island as we speak .
HaHa of course i'm kidding but don't let that stop you....hahaha....nah...again I jest.
i was on the summit site and saw many options there. I looked at who made a particular piece then sought out the manufacturers website to get more detail on the part. Many of them are made from DOM tubing (obviously for strength reasons) and many (but not all) use polyurethane bushings. aplications varied but Most were for rock crawlers, serious off-roading and street racers.
I think i'm going to go ahead and fabricate a bar with the stuff i have. Not to lock myself into one choice, I will either mount brackets that will accept future options or just use the same size joints (7/8) on another bar.
thanks again!!!

So i have no pics today...just an update....
I got my "swaybar" in and it's really just a straight DOM tube with rod end threaded adapters welded on. From everything i read, for the best handling it bolts from the left hand side of the frame (back of frame directly behind the driver, near four link mount) to the front/right of the axle.
So i go to buy a 7/8ths bolt at Home Depot...."um, what? you don't carry 7/8ths bolts?" well maybe Lowes does. "what? you don't carry 'em either?" ok what about the local hardware store...."no?" ok howabout RoadSide Auto Parts, or an auto barn? The man behind the counter didn't know what a Heim joint was. If i told him it was a Jewish marijuana cigarette he DEF looked like he would've taken his break early and joined me.
so damn it! I did all the welding and work on Saturday and Sunday and all I wanted on my day off was to bolt the sway bar and have someone push me around in my completed rolling chassis. so instead i spent yesterday tallying up all the $hitty home depot nuts and bolts i'm currently using to replace them ALL with Grade 8 bolts i ordered from BoltDepot.com.
I will post pictures of my rookie swaybar setup tonight.

Didn't get to take pics that night so here's an update... got my nuts and bolts
so finally got the right sized bolt for the huge 7/8ths heim joints i ordered for the bar...here it is installed.
i wanted it to be underneath but felt it wouldve been too low...low enough to hit a rock or something. so after much thought I decided to put it in between the links...with enough room for vertical movement during a bump.

Yea T and youd be done in what.....a month? Cause you work at Batspeed!
So an update on my build.....no update. I'm working like a lunatic again and my stepson thinks the world is his and he can do whatever he wants. recent behavioral issues got him into alot of trouble. Since he doesn't care or listen to me, then i guess a Judge will have to do. Let's see if he behaves until the next court date. either way his days are numbered. if he doesn't change his ways and get on the right path, he'll be 18 next summer and homeless. the choice is his alone.
What the...? where was i? Whoa....sorry all. Ok yes my build....brakes brakes brakes....I'm seeking out North Shore Golf Car (where i got my rear axle from) for brake cables and parts. I can easily just buy brake cables online anywhere but i am being particular when it comes to these brakes. i am VERY INTERESTED IN STOPPING so I want these drum brakes to use the cables and linkage that were meant for it.
I'm also shopping for a Drive Clutch for the Honda GX390. Comet is the most popular i think, but I heard they are currently going out of business. I need one that will fit onto the honda's keyed shaft (i think one inch). I'm getting closer and closer to have this thing rolling. but FIRST THINGS FIRST: BRAKES
that's what i'm up to now. just one more thing though about my domestic drama i MUST share: It was a trying day....waiting in court all day cause, quite ironically, there's absolutely no order at all and you wait 6 hours to spend 3 minutes in front of a judge...so after a long day of crap and a 17 year old who, even after leaving court, doesn't see the big picture, after psych evals and talks with the school, after reassuring my wife that we'll get through it...after that long day I went into the garage looked at my build and smiled. I spent the next few hours in build/bat/cltc mode and was completely relieved of anything that happened that day.
Thank you CLTC for guiding me to a new form of escape. Thank you for feeding my creative side. Thank you for all the help I've gotten. Thanks to all the members that keep this craziness alive!!!
