Got up early today started layin some glass as the pros would say......I'm no pro

so Im, going to grind most of it back out again and start again......

the woven fiberglass is a real pain in the ass to work with the chopped mat is stiffer and on a verticle surface stays a little better the edges on the woven stuff want to spring up and go all ove the place, so I think I,m going to stick with that. I'll snag some pictures of what not to do , and try again also my backing board to keep the fiberglass from falling through kept pushing away and it's going to take alot of fiberglass to fill the openings and the chopped matt seems alot thicker and may go further for the same price...

I'll post some pics of my shame when I get up the nerve to take some....

little tip when you buy cheap brushes to push in the resin in  buy them by the truck load your going to need em..

Both strand and weave have there place i get strand kind of thick not sure the oz. but I separate it by pulling it

apart into two equal section this way it is light weight and can soak up resin better plus it forms so much better then i

just keep adding thin layers. Big wave probably could give a much better tutorial.

Thanks Nitro , I added a few pieces of strand in to see how it holds up, Im going to cut small pieces and continue to overlap them untill it fills the gap depth its alot easier to handle and being a little stiffer it doesn't want to sag as much when wetted out I bought 2 more packs on my way into work today 9 sq feet each I'll probably need 10 more packs and 200 more brushes...

Dave seems like an expert and you seem to sorta almost kinda know what your doing. I still wanna see your car, but I'll take any advice you got in the meantime..

Thanks again

No bondo fiberglass right to the top, I thought about doing a bondo core the stuff with glass in it , but I also need the practice so I'm going to finish with the glass build up past the edges and sand back till its flush and put some larger sheets on the back.

Also looking at the pictures the top looks like its flared its not just camera angle the gaps are still pretty deep.

Ok changed my mind going to put some short strand Bondo in the yeally narrow sections to fill some voids the the fiberglass doesn't want to stay in , I took scissors to some fiberglass mat untill it was tiny tiny and stuck it in the narrow grooves, then splattered it with resin, it works but the bondo might be easier..
