Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it.
Finished the other side bottom section today. I used a technique that I use for laying the fiberglass mat, that is to seperate the material into squares and lay them into an overlapping pattern. Works better imo, that is if you don't care about "the beauty of the weave".
So, we have a complete body in the mold at this time. It is however quite thin. The next step will be adding layers to strengthen and thicken the body. I was going to add the coremat layer now but I think I will add a layer of 1.5 oz. mat first to get more fiberglass toward the top of the body.

Continuing on.....
Decided to go ahead and get ready for the next layer. This layer will be random strand fiberglass mat. The fiberglass cloth is fairly heavy but thin and flexible. The strand mat is a bit thicker and stiff. Fiberglass cloth is just like regular cloth, it won't tear, you have to cut it. Strand mat can be cut but works really well when you tear it because the fibers of the frayed edges bind together when resin is applied. Here are the two side by side.
Put most of the mat down on the top part of the car today. The parts uncovered will be done with torn bits of mat as I put the resin on.
Hope to have that done tomorrow and be ready to move on to the bottom. I think the bottom will be easier now. The first layer was trying to adhere to a polished surface with two coats of wax specifically designed to be able to separate. Now it will be sticking to fiberglass that has a rougher texture and ,hopefully, a bit of a chemical bond as it isn't totally cured yet.

Finished that layer today. No pic because it really doesn't look much different. Was it easier than the first time? Not really. Maybe a little just because I knew what to expect. Fiberglass mat really soaked up the resin so it is a nice thick layer. I bought 20 gallons but I think I need more than that.
Tomorrow I will grind down any problems and repair them. Need to do that after every layer to keep the layers solid. Mostly it's just a few bubbles that creep in. The hardest part is the front wheel flairs. Space there is very tight.
Next layer will be the cormat. Never have used this before so should be interesting.

Had a small setback today.
Started out by grinding and repairing any problems in the last layer then continued to putting down the coremat layer. Started with the front section. Here it is laid out.
Looks good so far, time to apply the resin. I have read that coremat takes a lot of resin and you need to saturate the underside first then put the piece in place and saturate the top, so that's what I did. OMG! it took an unbelievable amount of resin! This little section took 4 gallons. here's the picture after resin was applied.
Resin is not cheap. I think adding a third layer of random strand mat would be better. It would be stronger that the coremat, easier to apply, and cost a lot less in resin. Just would not be quite a thick.

Finished the 4th layer of fiberglass today. One more layer to go. But I have a few other commitments coming up that will slow me down a little. Hopefully ready for mold separation some time next week.
Tried a little trick to angle the car so I could get to those upside down parts more easily.
Did it help? No!! But when I do the second body I will definitely put it on a twirler. It won't be hard, just attach the cart to the twirler and strap the body to the cart.
ps. 10 brownie points if you can identify that poster on the back wall of my garage. Not the Mopar one, the other one.

Excellent execution. Hope to see the body very soon.

I assume you mean the one that mentions the Viper. Photo-image resolution was a little too low to read all the words. vertigo

Thanks for the replies guys.
The words on the poster are "Mechanics! Your skills are needed. Those Vipers won't fix themselves." The picture is the Viper they're talking about. It's not a car.
