It's been rainy for about two weeks straight now. But have been able to finish the patterns for the top part of the mold. Now just need to do the bottom half. Sure would be easier to use a chop gun and blow the glass in.
In the meantime I've been re-upping photos in the earlier parts of this build that disappeared when the hosting company I used went down. Finished with the wooden DOJ build that I did a few years ago. It was fun to look back at that build. It really came out nice if I do say so myself.

hey sly,
Glad to see you are making progress.
I still admire the way your proxy build came out in wood. Very impressive presentation. vertigo

Update:
Starting to lay the fiberglass into the mold today. When I bolted the mold together I gave each piece two nice coats of parting wax. The first step today was to paint the mold with the green parting solution I used before to help separate the mold from the part when done. That was a mistake. The parting solution just beads up on the wax and pools in the low sections. Had to wipe it all out.
Also cut out the first layer of fiberglass that is a very thin cloth called veiling cloth. It is suppose to hide the weave of the next layer of cloth and easily conform to shapes like the lines on the body. I bought 10 yards of it but should have bought 20. Eh, I'll make it work.
Here's a pic of the veiling cloth being applied.
After doing it, I'm not sure it's worth the effort. I guess we'll see when the thing is done if there's much difference between the areas that have it and those that don't. Used it on most of the upper body but not enough for the lower part.
Found out that once the resin is applied it becomes impossible to tell places that have been glassed from areas that have not been done yet. Need a pigment for the resin.
Also, I don't have the stamina I use to have. Working longer than 7 hours at one time on this was pretty taxing.

hey sly,
7-hours well spent.
Looks rather labor intensive.
Will be looking forward to seeing your progress with anticipation. vertigo

Put in another 5 hours today, laying the woven cloth layer. Got the rear half of the body done before my back gave out. My back has never been the same since that run in with Bane.

Update:
Started off today by grinding off a few bubbles that appeared last night and applying some reinforcement cloth in some areas. In this pic you can see the reinforcement cloth before the resin is applied (once it is applied the cloth becomes clear) and a couple of black circles where I found some bubbling.
The main goal for today was to put the cloth down on the front half top section. Here is the cloth placed into a front wheel flair.
Got the top section finished today with the cloth. Tomorrow I will start on the bottom part, which is upside down work! We'll see how THAT goes!

Ran in to a bit of a problem. The cloth won't stick to the part upside down. I've coated the parts with resin and will wait until it gets tacky then try again. If that doesn't work I will have to unbolt the bottom section from the mold and do it as two separate pieces that will need to be put together later.

Well, that worked...... after a fashion. What a messy job. But got the passenger side completely done.
I'm going to have to take a day to do some other things tomorrow then back at it on Thursday.
