Spot on. I spoke to the local bike shop today. As the caliper bracket is actually going to be located within the outer pipe and doesn't require adjustment it's feasible I just cut off that part of the bracket.

Cut the rear pipe to fit around the brake caliper mount this evening. After a little bit of extra filing....Perfect fit!!

Just wondering are you going to support the weight of the bike by the shaft of the electric motor? I;m liking the build.! BWD

Yep. It's a 25mm shaft out of the engine and it'll be attached to 4 x 4mm plates along the shaft with two of those plates welded together a few mm from the spinney parts of the motor bolted the the anti-rotation component.

I would imagine the bearings are located just inside the motor casing so there shouldn't be too much leverage between the closest support and bearings. But I didnt make the motor so Im only guessing.

I do have a steel plate cut for the other side of the motor and will connect it up with bearings so that'll also provide some additional support.

The front disk needed 35mm spacing from the wheel hub so the caliper could fit over the disk without hitting the hub. I figured the best way to do it was to manufacture five spacers. I like my lathe.

Add Lathe to the things I'm jealous of and wish I had Also, at this rate you may have to change this thread's name to "An increasingly faster Batpod build"

Have you done any math on the lengths of all the lever arms involved in the steering, or you just gonna figure that out as you go, and see how far turning the bars turns the wheel, and adjust as needed?

Just figure it out as I go. It's got pretty limited turn to the right as the wheel will hit the front fork arm. But this is the same on the movie bike.

Batmobile

I'll draw it all up on my drawing first and animate it to see if it works.

Yes... I'm moving a little quicker then I thought with it.... neglecting my other duties.

Did a little more work on the front disk tonight. I drilled and tapped the wheel spacers, turned down the spacer bolts so they precisely fit into the disk holes to avoid any movement between the bolts and the disk. After sitting it on the wheel hub, giving it a spin and watching it wobble up and down it was apparent something wasn't true... the back of the wheel hub!!! So.............. back to the lathe to turn down the back of the wheel hub.

The bike looks great! What brand of spindle did you design your front spindle after?

Shar... not sure exactly what you're asking?? But...I bought a front CBR brake caliper off ebay from a larger bike. I figure this things going to weigh a bit so a caliper from a larger bike would be needed. Then I calculated what size disk I needed to fit inside the wheel allowing enough room for the caliper to fit without hitting the wheel... It's a pretty tight fit. The 5 spacers give the edge of the caliper about 5mm clearance from the wheel hub and the mounting bracket for the caliper is just clear of the bearings for the steering. It's all pretty tight.
