i took myself a few weeks off from doing....well anything. I started getting bored with stuff. So i figured a break was in order.

I got this done Yesterday before a large storm hit us. I got tired of trying to paint and repaint and repaint because the silver wouldnt settle correctly, or bugs committing suicide in my paint. Its all primer/sealer. And its gonna have to do for now.

least now it wont rust away before i can get some replacement parts and do it right.

Looking great Shaggy. I know what you mean about bugs commiting suicide in the paint. My battruck has a few corpses in the paint job also.

lol thanks guys.  One thing you might notice, and im unsure of at the moment, is i might have a warped hood.  How the heck that happend, i dont know.

The adjusters are all down, and the hood still doesnt sit propery.  Not really sure whats going on there.  Chilebean suggested setting the hood down on the car without the hinges, so i'm gonna try that and see if it makes a difference.   If its warped, i'm not worried, i'll drive it warped, i want a steel cowl induction hood anyway.

So i got some work done on the Camaro this weekend. I did all of this on a budget of $5 bucks. And i must say, even i stepped back and was excited to see all that i got done.

Ok before anyone says anything the PURPLE tape was my wife's idea, not mine.
Batmobile

I taped up the windows because my super awesome tarp is NOT waterproof. who'da guessed.

Batmobile

I put in the carpet, and glued it down, and installed the floor mats. I couldn't believe what a simple addition such as this could really pull the interior together. Might have to see about making myself a headliner too

Batmobile
Batmobile

Here is the passenger side, hard to tell its actually a cut up throw rug.
Batmobile

I installed my shifter, cable, and cover, as well as the center console. the bolt holes were shattered on the console itself so i just stuck some random long bolts in there to keep the faceplate from sliding around as the shifter worked. I hate it looks so redneck but its only temporary.

Batmobile

I am thinking about putting a set of gauges right here, i had a set there once before and it worked great, but the were a hair bigger.

Batmobile

And im thinking about either putting a fuel gauge, or a power outlet here, im leaning more towards a power outlet for the passenger to charge his/her phone, or power any other device they may have.
Batmobile

Ok im all against using massive amounts of bondo on cars, but because of issues i have no choice, i figured i would "pretty up" the dents until i could afford to get replacement skins. So i slabbed on some bondo on the dented door and smoothed it out, you can still tell there is a dent there, but i wasnt going for perfection, just better-than-it-was

Batmobile

I repaired the passenger side quarter panel, i used a lean amount of bondo compared to what the car had on it when i got it. I was able to acheive decent results (not perfect but decent) enough to satisfy me until i can get replacement parts in later time.

Batmobile

I still got to work out a small spot behind the tire, its a bit of a mess.
Batmobile

i put on the rocker panel trim, its dirty and in desperate need of shining, but i figured what the hey, i'll clean it later.

Batmobile

got the driver side Camaro symbol on.
Batmobile

And what made me most happy, i got the driver side window gasket, and trim on. I added the gutter since i figured it would look good with the vinyl top later on when i get it on there. Plus it will help keep the rain out of the car when driving with your windows down.

Thanks Conrad! Im a fan of Dave's, especially his older stuff right around the time of that "fif" joke lol. And movies he played in as well.

Just to let everyone know, the reason why the car is going together so...well...not "perfect" just decent is because i just want it together to last me long enough to get me to Washington and give me a few good years until i can do it right. I've come to the hard realization that trying to build a beauty queen while rolling around in the mud just doesnt work. Never has for me since the beginning. So i plan on pulling all of this right back down once i can get myself a shop, and i mean A SHOP with all the right equipment and not order a SINGLE used part. all new pieces, everywhere. Im already throwing around idea's to make it that much more convenient to work on in the future. I would like to send the unibody off to a sandblaster, have it cut down to nothing, and replace EVERY body panel available. If for body dents, or rust, or simply years of having the car gutted by previous owners.

I want to start off with this. an new LS motor

Batmobile

Hook to a T56 tranny. Independent rear suspension rear end, and air bag suspension all around.

usbody.com has fiberglass front ends that are able to flip forward, i like the ease of access to certain parts of the car. so im seriously considering this for when i redo this project.

Batmobile

I would like to clean up the engine compartment to the point where you see nothing. I was thrilled with the way chip foose did the engine bay on the "grand master" (a '35 chevy masters) As well as the concept Camaro. So im thinking of swaying in that direction.

Batmobile

And, remember my one-off interior idea? As time as passed, the new camaro's interior is growing on me, as much as i denied the idea to begin with, i mmmmiiiggghhtt just do that. Only time will tell. My hopes when it is all said and done is that the car will be a show stopping beauty. I dont care much for horsepower, just a well-built and sound vehicle.

So under chilibeans suggestion, i went out, and removed my hood hinges, and reinstalled my hood to see if my hood was warped as i so thought.

And it is. I didnt take pictures, but its warped a good inch or so on the passenger side, i feel its due to that hing being broke on that side.

I also test fitted my new stereo yesterday. i'll get pictures of that soon too.

I'm gonna suck it up and drive it around with a warped hood, since the warp is near the windshield and not the front where air can grab it and try pulling it off.
