Honda makes some great quads that have reverse with automatic trans. Or you could use a Honda 300ex if ou don't mind shifting, the do have reverse and can be bought real cheap

I hear ya X.

Looking at my engine options online at work....when I should be working....wait, i'm the manager here so i can do nothing today, right?

If I want an automatic i'm gonna have to shell out some bucks...I'd have to get extremely lucky to get one for free. I DO have that ATV sitting there...but no reverse. and it's a kick start. also looking for a suitable rear axle and wheels. I'm progressing pretty fast on this small build and I don't want to start spending money on this cause most of my bucks are going towards the big Tumbler. So I will keep looking for ways to minimize the spending on this little guy by using what I have. If I have to spend on anything, it will be the motor/transmission.

Conrad

I would use the axle off the blaster cause you can change the gearing simply by changing the sprocket and it would also be real easy to mount the engine because you can change the chain length to suit you needs just by making it shorter or longer. I have already been through this when I took a Honda Odessy (the 350cc go gart) and put a Kawasaki 750 inline four it it. I used a 400ex bearring carrier with 400ex axle and made a custom swingarm. It makes for a real simple rear suspension that is very durable and rides well.

It was a death trap, but a LOT of fun.

I did some more disassembling of the blaster yesterday. No regrets as I had fun with it the 2 1/2 years I had it.

here's the hub mounted to the wheel

The idea is to use as much as i can off the blaster. I'm going to cut down the lower and upper A-Arms and mount them to the baby bridging vehicles arms.

these are not my arms...just a pic off the net to show what i mean.

create brackets or plates on these square tubing arms and the weld the cut a-arms on.

These hubs are cool cause they have these cute little drum brakes inside. There's also a well positioned steering link. This is getting interesting.

Hey Conrad is it possible to eliminate your transmission and use a centrifical clutch like a go-cart with a sprocket mounted to it? I think the reverse is nice but" you don't need no stinking reverse" I use to have an MGB in college that had no reverse and I drove it for a couple years like that....Sometimes I just made my date push me backwards..hahaha.

Another suggestion on the rear axle set-up is you could have two rims and cut out the center hub on one and weld the rims together. Then mount the tires from either side "walla" a dually.....And if it fails and you kill yourself my name is Don C......Remember I'm in sales so take my suggestions with a grain of salt.....But I think on a baby Tumbler go-cart this would be ok since I've seen it done on sandrails.....BWD
