Hey Conrad, that swing arm looks great. But there seems to be no reason you couldn't weld two outside brackets onto the swing arm and get two longer coil overs to connect to the upper frame hoop. A friend of mine used his old shocks from his new Chevy on his dune buggy. After he had the Chevy lifted they were going to just throw the shocks away. Those smaller coil over Chevy shocks or similar would look perfect for your build and you might be able to get them from a shop in NY where they do that kind of work....Or at least from a wrecking yard......BWD

Actually I didn't get that much done, but I will be getting the front end done this week. when I have all the stuff i need to work on the vehicle I try to plan out my day accordingly:

6:30am Get up
7:00am go to work
4:00pm come home
4:05pm change clothes
4:10pm if the lazy teenagers haven't done so already, feed animals (dogs, cats, birds)
4:40pm drink protein drink
5:00pm go into garage
10:00pm Come out of garage

At some point in between I do woof down dinner and then go right back to work. It's been hard to start working around 5 last week as my garage faces west and the sun beats the hell out of it. during the past heat wave I've been waiting till about 7:30 to start anything, but that really doesn't give me enough to get much done. Hopefully this week I'll get alot done.

Conrad, sounds like you are pretty busy. We just had a baby girl 2 months ago, so i know how it feels to not have time to work. It sucks cause I have to get my 46 ford done before I can start on a tumbler project.

So I've spent the last 3 days learning about drilling steel. I had trouble yesterday drilling holes in the 1/4" steel plates I'm using for the front axles. It took some homework and a talk with a Columbian Machinist who looked like he's been doing it since he was 5. I looked up a local place around my job and his name came up. he told me to slow down to between 200-300 rpms and lots of lubrication.

figures the $99 drill press i bought has a minimum of about 500rpms. nonetheless, it did the job. I initially was spinning at over 2000rpm's and burning the bits fast.

so here are some pics of 3 days work (about 15hrs really)

I quickly learned to use a piece of wood to catch the bit as it cuts the workpiece...as you'll see the scrape on the drill's table.

After getting all the holes drilled... i finally got to fit the parts i got earlier in the week. high speed hubs 4" bolt circle, 1" hub bore, 4-1/8" hub length with bearings....much bigger than I expected...was intending to do 4 (2 on each arm). I re-thought the front of my small tumbler.
