Passenger fender looks to have a big dent, bumpers bent up, pass wheel looks mis-aligned...Probably after that scene before the cemetery..

Yeah, I love that picture....The Car looks beat to hell. I was guessing it was after the canyon/bike chase. It gets driven hard all the way thru that scene. It was also driven into the side of the cliff a couple times when Brolin was climbing the rope...this might explain the dent, and the condition of the front bumper. -Matt

Awesome news!! Anthony turned THE CAR over to Jim at BATRODZ in Long Island. Jim is working on making a fiberglass kit for The Car. Jim called me recently to set up a time to head down, and work out the fine details of aquiring a kit for myself....this is awesome Here's a pic of Jim's Monkeemobile build with The Car in the background, ready for glassing!! I owe Jim, Anthony Taffuri, Chris Defalco, Tony Wood & of course George Barris a huge thanks for helping me achieve what I thought was an impossibility; I am finally well on my way to building and owning my dream car! -Matt

Amazing! That's fantastic, you certainly deserve a replica for sticking with this for so long and through so much!
So since somebody told you you can't put a fiberglass body over an existing metal body, does this mean the body will be built totally from fiberglass, like a Vette? And if so, does that mean it will be built from scratch, or will you start with a Mark III?
BTW, my 3D replica of The Car is moving along. It's finally starting to look like The Car since I put in the headlights and reshaped the body (I had the sides too high). I'm actually surprised at how close it looks considering I'm building it strictly by memory (we aren't allowed to go on the internet in my Computer Design class). I can't send you any progress pics since as I said, we can't go on the internet, but once I finish and print it out, I'll scan it on my home CPU.
Can't wait to hear what's next,
Matt

Can't wait to hear what's next, Matt Thanks for all the kind words, Matt! It has been a long road to seeing this car come together! I guess the fiberglass/metal body thing isn't too much of an issue...at least not as serious a problem as I was lead to believe. The Monkeemobile in the photo with The Car is a perfect example of Jim's extraordinary work....that car is fiberglass body panels joined to a metal-bodied car. So it can be done. This is most likely the route I am going to take. I'll be getting another Mark III...chop the top, pancake the trunklid, modify the hood, and construct the doors in metal. The only parts fiberglass will be the four fenders, frontend, and rear. I think it will make for a more solid car. However, I believe it is Jim's plan to glass an entire body which could be put on any car with a 117 wheelbase. I will be seeing Jim soon, so we'll sort out the details of what the best route would be. The 3D model sounds intense...can't wait to see it! Keep up the good work, I'm sure it will be perfect

You know what also would work well? One of those Lincoln Town Coupes. They're somewhat unusual but I see one occasionally, so they're out there... This is a 1977 example. And this car is a bit off-topic but I thought it was cool. 1977 Lincoln limo by Andy Hotton, built from the rear portion of a Town Coupe and the front portion of a Town Car: Hey Rage! The Town Coupes are awesome! I always thought a replica CAR would be wicked cool using one of these beasts...they're huge! The Andy Hotten/Malony cars are cool! My mom had a '75 Maloney Town Car, it was built custom for a local Banker. I have pics somewhere....great car! -Matt

Interesting, so will this be a one-off deal or is he going to make more molds to sell?

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask: are there any pictures at all of The Car from behind?

Jim will no doubt be offering a kit for sale. I don't think he has anything on his site regarding The Car, but check it out; www.batrodz.com If you're looking for actual photos of the backend of THE CAR, I have never come across any. There are certain points in the movie where you can see the back. Anthony based whatever he could from these and the ERTL model. The ERTL model has the wrong rear bumper, most likely because there was nothing to reference when it was made. -Matt
