"shields"
See...these are the things I wanna know. I'm suer they were done digitally in the movie, But I wonder if anyone has figured out how to do it? Turning the fantasy into reality is what makes me OH SO HAPPY. Hency, my urge to build a tumbler that, short of being stealth, can manage a jump.

Justin, yes thats what I mean but completed and 110% better.
hedgrinder, the shields effect is done with......stop motion. I watched it frame by frame.
The shields come out of no where, they just appear.

It wasn't stop motion. It was drawn and composited. In returns they used computers.

"drawn and composited," " stop-motion," I don't care. I wanna know how to do it for real. I realize that turning special effects into real life is difficult, but nothing yet that I might consider IMPOSSIBLE. Just expensive, and requiring a shit load of money. An 89 built of something reasonably bullet resistant being an excellant example. Realistically, it can be done fairly easily, however, this is entirely dependant on the funding. Jut a matter of shaping the body out of your given material. Yeah, I know that "shaping" whatever bullet resistant material you choose is less than easy, but I just mean that with enough money, its not a problem.
This is exactly where I am with the tumbler. I'm a pretty damn good engineer, but I'd still rather get as many specs up front as possible to work off of.
Firstly, and this is really making me curious, but why the Hoosier racing tires up front? If its entirely for looks, and for the movie, OK, cool....but if anyone can think of a legitimate reason for having these up front, with the "muddin" tires out back, I'd like to hear it.
