Dwight...molds...swinging at mark...what the hell Mark?

Childish...ya your dam right it is...flame wars that is...
chopped...hand laid...it's the end product that counts..right?
I prefer hand laid...
as for dwight...who's been feeding you that line about dwight making molds...?
I think kory's got his bat bodies mixed up...Dwight makes PEDAL CARS bats...not full size, I make'em full size or hire someone....
your correct NATE'S AND ONLY NATE'S CAR HAD NO GELCOAT...c'mon who's swingin' at who huh?
As for business on another car I won't deal with Kory, I always go the source..
if your not up to it...that's fine by me...we'll look elsewhere

Well, I figure that as long as you are going to make a FAQ regarding this subject, you might wanna include as much actually USEFULL information as possible to anyone trying to build one. Essentially, all you've done is create a document that says, "it's too expensive for YOU, YOU don't know anyone that will build one for you, and no one is going to even bother talking to YOU until you harass them a bit and throw some money at it."
Why not add in something along the lines of all the little nitpickings that you all constantly do over this body. Show all the details that you have picked up over the years. Maybe suggest frames to use as a starting point, and exactly what you are looking at in terms of modifying them. Interior and dash decisions would also be helpful. Why not help the guy that wants to build one a little bit by giving a nice dash layout? Maybe something showing how to make the "hatch" work. Or how to make a fake "afterburner."
Or, are all the people who have built one just refusing to share information? I can understand this, if it is in fact the case, but I would still imagine SOME usefull information is out there. Why not try and put as much information regarding the build together in one place as possible? Try and make it just a bit easier to build one of these, 'cause God knows you've got a lot ahead of you building one from scratch.
Anyways, just some suggestions. I don't even have any interest in building a n 89. I want a tumbler, and would kill for a faq like the above for it. I assume there are 89 builders out there wanting the same.
Mike

If you check the past posts, I detailed which frames to use and which not to use. I have posted my interior and cockpit and gauge pictures and what type steering column to use. Several members have spent time at my home and stayed with me and I showed them they need to do to prep and build their cars at no expense to them. I have showed how to install the Lexan flush mount. I have helped others locate and acquire difficult components. Anyone who is building one of these cars, I have helped them freely. I do not help the ones who charge for building cars and make a living at it. They need to figure this out on their own.

PS: except for Don he doesn't do 89's for a living

It seems to me that the FAQ dealt more with buying an '89 rather than building one. Those are the answers to the questions that so many of get in our email everyday.

If someone wants to start a "Builder's Guide" they are more than welcome to do that. (contrary to popular belief, Justin is not a builder )
I doubt, however that any of the builders want to share any of their "secrets" although I don't think there is anything secret about it. Building a car, is building a car. It takes a certain amount of skill and knowledge. You can watch American Hot Rod and watch them build cars, but that doesn't mean you will have any idea how to build one yourself.

Exactly, Tim. Hedgrinder, the builders out there are, for the most part, unwilling to part with their info. THAT is one of the points I make in the FAQ. Additionally, I get e-mails every day that look alot like what you just wrote. As much as I would love to take the time to write up a "build manual", a) I don't know how to build Batmobiles and b) why? As far as compiling all available information in one convenient place.... check out www.chickslovethecar.com . They have an awesome forum where ALL available information is compiled in useful threads, and discussed by builders, owners and fans.

Maybe my post came off sounding more harsh than I intended. I just meant that as long as you are going to have something called, "1989 batmobile replica faq" why not provide as much information about a replica as possible? Include building, rather than just buying, information. As you all have said, you've already written and posted the information and pictures regarding frames, interior, cars to use etc... on here, so why not just compile all this stuff into one place? I honestly hadn't even looked for this stuff on here, as I dont care about the 89 car. I just came here looking for tumbler information. I'd kill for this kinda information about that car, but OF COURSE, no body says anything. Make the faq a dynamic thing so that new additions can be added constantly even.
As far as building cars, I'm well aware of the work that goes into them. I've just finished building(I wouldn't call it a restoration) a 71 Dodge Challenger, as well as a 77 MGB for my sister. I've built cars all my life and love doing it in my spare time. Maybe this is why I am not understanding the replica builders "Secrets." What is secret? This car has been around for 16 years, and I would've assumed that by now, just about everything about this car would be known.
I was just trying to make a helpfull suggestion.

Your Challenger is a close cousing to my former car - a 1972 Dodge Charger.

Justin,

I've always liked that generation of the B-bodies too. Don't think they get nearly the credit they deserve though. I have a friend with a 72 that is a gunmetal grey kinda color I really like. My challenger is currently down because I wasn't happy with the 440 I had put in it, and decided to build a 528" hemi. Unfortunately, the reproduction block from chrysler that is "supposedly" able to take an overbore to 4.5" didn't quite look like I expected when I got a look at the sonic check. So, i'm still debating on how big to take it.

We need a parts list some where. You know a parts list of car parts to use for your batmobile. "shields"

I've been a Batman fanatic since 1988, born 1983.
