So I should add my 2 cents. I have seen Kevin’s blown and my body is hand laid. Which is better? Kevin’s by far! It's thicker, stronger, and straighter then mine. I know it has a lot to do with who makes the body. But for me I think for a car this size blown (and rolled) would be much better.

So now that we have started a little flame war I would like this question answered. Who if any of you have actually completed an 89? I have heard all of you say that you have built this and that and hey that's awesome but lets see an 89 you have built. Here's what I know there are at least 5 cars out there in various stages of completion. They are all pretty much being built by the owners and like I said they are all still unfinished. I also know that a lot of bodies have been pulled and sold by you guys. But show me an 89 that you have built, finish, whatever.

Jack; don't make me come over to your house and sit on your car. I haven't seen your car. From what I have heard from the other owners. Is that the guys that were laying up your cars didn't know what they were doing and took short cuts. That can make all the difference in the world.

When I ordered my car I requested Bob to spray my car twice as thick as usual, I was well aware of the problems with a blown car. My car is 3/4" thick in most places; over thickness can also cause a multitude of problems as well as you know. I also glassed in a ton of steel through the body as overkill and hard pointed the body in many high stress locations thorough ought the body. Some of the hard points have adjustable eye bolts.

If I didn't have a real job I would be done by now. I am supposed to be retired but you know how that is.
When mine is done I will cut the same deal every one else gets. Work for free or trade. Everyone cries the poor boy blues.

It took me six months to get rid of all the Black Beauty parts out of my garage. I never want to see that car agin, until its done of course. Never saw a dime for that project.

Mark...I like it when you call me Donald
I think you've been in the sauce again my friend...4500 to chop a car...
your paying too much...1000 for hand laid..aahhh not quite ...more like at least 1500 MATERIALS including GELCOAT and 2 weeks of hand labor at 20 an hour for the skilled laborer...'nother 1500...then all the trimming, clean up etc... and guess what...$4500. for a hand laid bat. ...at least that's what it cost in this country...I dunno what the going rate in Tijuana is..
and speaking of going rate...is that white mach 5 for sale?
Friend of mine's looking for a complete running mach 5...in great shape...
NOT CRAP!
I already asked troll #1 about his....but judging from troll skills I don't want to go near it..
So Name your price!

Sorry guys,
I liked it better when it was about building NOT demolition but, you may know best. I still pick up the info/tips you pass back & forth.

"There are many ways to skin a cat".

I think the best thing about this forum is, we all want to have The car(an 89 if you didn't already know).

How we do it? Different methods? To share this, it can only help others right?

Who can build it? How it's done? What it cost?(can I still dream?). This is why people like me come to this site.

I love the fact that a lot of people post here, who know what their doing (or seem to) when they build a replica. They SHARE this information with idiots like me (who think its just about any car(donor), with a fiberglass body 'facelift'. I wish.
That about sums it up.
I WISH (like most of the people here).

Lets concentrate on
'keeping the dream alive'.

Hell, all I really want to know is if...
a)I can afford it?
b)Who can help me?
c)Where can I park it?
d)What mods do I make to satisfy the Law.
e)How long will it take me to have one?
But most importantly, HOW DO I DO IT?
Thats what this place is all about? Right?

With respect to the posters.
