Tim, yes...things did change in those areas because the doors were not removable vertically. Once they switched to rotating them, I assumed they would keep them the same dimensions and relative position. Stuff like this makes me question feature versus accuracy. My question would be, would you give up the rotating doors for an accurate scribed door as part of the diecast body? Or how about giving up diecast for a more accurate body with crisper details? Hmmm...

We scanned the 1/7 scale model first...then 3D scanned PARTS of the full-size. The equipment is portable nowadays so they just brought it to WB. All those files were loaded into a computer and poor Marcus spent forever rebuilding it as accuratly as possible by combining this and that. One of the major things we did was have the front of the canopy as accurate as possible. If you look at the older toys and models, you'll notice how rounded it is. The 1/7 scale model (Anton's initial "vision")is actually "pointed" and we tuned that down a bit to match the full-size.

Tim, great job superimposing the 1/18th over the real car. Awesome. So, hope you have time to post the new pictures soon before the crowed goes crazy.

Dave, I hope you will have some extra time tonight to send more pictures and give me the low down on what's new.

Too everyone, great job with the post. Even the wise cracks about old age are appreciated. At least now I know I am alive.

Here is a fun one from one of the replicas.

Dave,
I'm still curious as to what a "pattern photo" looks like. Is there any way we could see an example?

B8K, ever since I found this forum, your website, and met Tim I have learned more about this car then I would have ever thought I would have known. Now with Dave on board I hope I can get the answers to all of the questions that are still unanswered. Like what did all of the aircraft parts come off of? And more importantly where can I buy them? I think it is great that we all have been sharing all of these wonderful pictures, ideas, questions, and answers. lets keep it up. Jack

It's amazing how much there is to know about this car. It's amazing how many things we still do not know. It sounds like some sort of obsession, but for me it has been like putting together a puzzle. You find a little pieceof info here and a piece there and then nothing for a while. Then, some new pictures surface or someone like Dave comes along and you get a whole bunch of pieces at once.

I think we should put together a list of missing "pieces." A detailed list of all the things we don't know about the car. Maybe once the questions are out there the answers will start to come in. I'll put it on my site and maybe Doohee can put it here and Justin can put it on his site too. First I think I will copy this last paragraph to a new topic and we can start listing them there...
