RE: 89 vs 92

i think mine or your car couldn't stand 4 0r 5 more inches on the back no matter how low or high its setting 4 dont sound like alot to some but i know its alot when it comes to building a car and the 6 flag cars set low not high because the tips bracket is low so the body would have to set low to work out right.

As far as I know you are not using an 72 Impala frame. Are you?

RE: 89 vs 92

Now could the replica bodies be smaller? Well yes they could but not because they were molded off of the Returns car or the 89 or what ever but simply because according to some of the guys here you pull a mold then it shrinks because that's what fiberglass does. Then you pull a body and then someone else pulls a mold and so on, then in theory you would have a smaller body. I'm no fiberglass expert but that seems to make since. I think Bob D had a term for it.

Now to think that in the 3 year between Batman and return they decided to resculpt the car to shorten it what? 4 inches is just plain silly. Who know it's all just speculation. By I have to ask WHY? Why would they spend all that time and money to redo it? Where are those cars now? Why in the DVD do they say they just repainted them? ETC?

Now again Mark has made a bold statement that the 89 and 92 are different. So Mark are you going to let this BS escalate like you did with your mold question?

RE: 89 vs 92

Sorry; all my research shows no other cars were built or used for the Returns movie. No where I have read or individuals I spoke with concerning the two cars. Have ever stated that any other cars were built, they used the existing cars from the first movie.

Jay Ohrburg did build some of the specialty vehicles for the second movie and built all the promo cars for WB and has never said that he or anyone else built more Batmobiles for the second movie.

Who told you this information?

Molds were pulled from the #1 car to build the #2 car, along with the promo and Six Flags cars. Why would they build a different car when they already have molds in place?

RE: 89 vs 92

hey kevin i do think the 89's where used in the 92 movie but i think some more where build to do different stuff and they had to make mods to the body and thats what someone got to mold off of i dont think the wb let the real one's out of there sight long enought to mold

RE: 89 vs 92

Okay I stand corrected I couldn't fit 4" only 3" more frame length. Here is the picture. Also I think you misunderstood what I was saying about the 6 Flags cars the Frame is set VERY high with the body set over it. Look at the picture above. When I placed my body over my frame I kept the frame parallel to the ground. Now I would do it differently knowing what I do now. I would put the body at least 3" lower over the frame in the rear and 2" lower in the front. That would have given me more undercarriage clearance for the exhaust. Lesson learned. Again who knows for sure what was done? Probably nobody except the film crew. Even the old picture you can't tell if that's how it sat under the body. Who knows maybe they cut it off up to where the afterburner brace is. It just doesn't make any since that they would go through all that work to shorten an 20' foot by 4 inches.

Oh and for mine to that the extra 3" I would have had to lower the body the 3 inches I mentioned above.

Like I said before it's all speculation until someone provides proof.

Maybe this is a shorter 92 car on a longer 89 chassis.

Ohh you kill me some times. Not even sure why you would be worrying about the real cars since you are doing such a outstanding job on yours. Thats the really interesting stuff. Here are a couple of shots of another car that was made for Returns. I'm pretty sure Dave said he thought this was the Turn Table car. It does look wider and has a funky canopy and seems between the roof and the wings.

You are so true Rusty. You really get my blood boiling and then I realize how cool it is that we are BSing about the 89 Batmobile (or 92 if you prefer). I've said it before you are one of the best club members we have. And even though you can really push my buttons I think you're awesome!

Wise beoynd his years. No doubt. Hey how about a shot of your rear body to frame? Oh have you tried your rear meats under the car? Are you going to have airbags or anything like that? Soryy if that's been asked before.
