I'm guessing you will be able to lower your rear suspension? That way it will look right when parked but still make it drivable. It may be the angle of the picture but it looks like your frame is narrower than mine. Hard to tell but I like what you are doing! Let me officially give you one of these

RE: 89 vs 92

im probaly just going to run air shocks(i really want some narrow air struts like bob's got but that can always happen later) on the back and my is alot narrower all the way down the frame

RE: 89 vs 92

Back to the topic in question...

On differences between the 89 & 92's.
I think I remember (gotta watch the special features again soon) that on the Batdiscs (DVDs) they said that when the car was shipped to the USA from England they had to "strip it down & rebuild it" or adapt it, from UK to USA parts to make it more usable or something like that. I believe thats when the car 'changed' (other than the windshield wipers & clown-trippers). There are at least a few "screen used" cars around, we havn't identified. WHOLE cars, not cutaways or cockpit area only. Didn't they say 2 were made for the 89 movie & another 7 for the 92 returns. That's 9 frigging cars around someplace!!!! Are we saying that WB has them all? Then who's to say whats being (been) moulded from who's body?
For example, it's strange that when I started posting that I would take pics of the car @ COTS in Edinburgh, it mysteriously dissappears into "storage". They close the whole place down. End of story.
I think this might be the "turntable" car, adapted from 89 for the 92 movie (Never left England ).

Any comments?

I'm sure Dave will as soon as he gets to the info. I wish Mark would start providing proof when he claims something and not make everyone wait for 2 months.

I can't tell about the Turntable side mechanics. Can you post your card?

RE: 89 vs 92

The side mechanicals were removable from the cars. There were a set of 2 fiberglass side pieces on the floor there at WB. They were mounted to fiberglass trapazoidal flat sections. I couldn't find a car that had them missing so maybe they were spares? Anyway, we went over the cars and measured them. Yup, they were all different but off only about an inch on the length. One of the shop guys from Mattel that went with me asked the head guy there about the differences and this little old guy snaps back "what do you expect for shitty fiberglass cars built in England...they're even longer on hot days". Sure enough, the grey Onstar car which we photographed outside (some of the pics I've seen here) was a bit longer out there in the sun than when we measured it inside that morning! My friend Henry at Hot Wheels is a bit busy right now but he holds all of the answers for exact numbers. He'll come through if I bug him enough. I was busy running around like a monkey with the camera that day.

From what we were told, and I have photographic proof, the grey Onstar car was the re-painted #1 1989 Batmobile. The second Onstar car (took some pics inside WB) was also from the first film but repainted. Both of these cars were in the 1989 film and then later re-finshed for Returns. Both of these went on tour as Onstar cars. Yes, they were torn apart and rebuilt but the body panels were the same. When they pulled the panels off for us there were about 4 layers of paint on these 2 including the original pearly black 1989 finish. The stunt/ turntable car was something weird. We were told that it was from a mold pulled off one of the 1989 cars and was "messed up" as far as measurements go. To me, it looked wider and that's the shot of it that Jack posted. It had removable panels all over it and was also the Batmobile that had the engine pulled out of it when Bruce was fixing it in the Returns batcave. Jack, I sent you pics of the rocket engine right? There was a 1989 half-car interior buck hanging off one of the big shelves for inside shots. That's all they had and the guy swore that was it. Was he positive...who knows? Did he want us out of his castle...probably! It looked like WB had everything in there from the Batman films. There was even the Penquin little ride-on Batmobile, and the Batmissile.

I'll do some digging over the weekend and come back with more info. I know how important this is to you guys and I'll give you what I have.

Thanks for the info Dave, I have been saying this for years!

Now maybe Kory will shut up about the car's never left England and the OnStar cars are the real numbered cars!

The screen capture has just been compressed to the wrong aspect ratio. It should look more like this... (to answer Rusty's question)

RE: 89 vs 92

When I got to check out the OnStar car I could tell it was the original. The big tell for me was an electrical conduit that could be seen through the front turbine area. This is also visible on the #1. No other replica I've seen has this detail. FACTS is FACTS

BUMP again

So if the wheelbase is the same then where would it be smaller? In front of the front tires? Behind the rear tires? Hummmmmmm. I guess Mark has either given up finding proof or is just to busy to keep his word. Mark?
