89 has been ordered waiting for my delivery date
Oh crap I got a lot of stuff to get done is a very short amount of time
My friends coworkers has been driving me crazy from day one (about three years ago). From the first day I said "I'm going to build it one day" LOL
Knowing it'll be worse if I tell people that it's been ordered. So wife and I are not telling a soul, not even family and really close friends. Will only tell Father, Brother in-law, Nephew the day before cutting into Caprice.
I'm planning on starting a build tread when I cut into Caprice. I have some great ideas in my head for things to be done. I'm planning on keeping the car the same way as the movie but with a few very little tweaks. Will not know if my ideas are going to work without having body mounted to chassis first. This is not going to be a museum cars are be sitting still long. If the car is driven five thousand miles+ a year I'll be happy.
I would like to take a second to say thank you to everyone here. This website has been a inspiration in helping me fulfill my dream of some day have a vehicle like the '89. The builds here has been very amazing and can only hope mine will be a fraction of them. I have not been every active here post past few months and I'm sorry. Mostly because from time to time my work requires me 12-16 hour days. I'm going to try to change that and become more active I promise. I've found myself reading forum old treads from time to time. I will try my best to keep everyone updated as things come along.
With a very humble heart thank you,

Looks like I've located a 1993 Caprice Interceptor Should be next weekend before we can hook up and see it.
Hard for me to sleep because my mind just keeps thinking about whats coming LOL
Weather is breaking nicely with temp's in mid 40's. Wife's sunroof leak and brake repair should be finished this weekend. Then have to re-torque heads and replace turbos on my Stealth next couple weeks. Then the garage should be ready for some Dissecting of a Caprice.
Anyone has a basic time line before body is ready ??
I was thinking:
Order Body -checked-
Buy Caprice
Order Tires and Rims
Unbolt everything I can from car and cut top off (drive the car around block without body LOL)
sandblast frame and replace anything that needs replacing
Order air ride parts for frame
Extend the frame and add air ride parts to frame
I'm going to try to have frame ready before body gets here

I was thinking about a Corvette around year ago. Not going to build a racer just low and show
I got a '94 Detroit Caprice Police Interceptor that still has the chip in it. Floor boards are rusted out but the frame looks good.
I parked it inside my garage couple days ago to clean it out, wow it's big. Only had 12' extra from front to rear & 2' on both sides. I have to reorganize the garage to allow more side room. Having 2 push mowers, 2 riding mowers, motorcycle, fathers VW beetle project don't help the issue.
Next two days I'll be re-torquing the heads on my Stealth and replacing wore out turbos. Hoping to start the process of cutting off body from frame. Would love to start sandblasting frame sometime this month.
I'll post couple pic's later today..

I would suggest holding off on installing your air ride suspension.. You have a TON of fabrication ahead of you and I'd hate to see you damage a bag or some nice new suspension parts while you have sparks, cutting wheels, paint, grinders etc whirling around

Congratulations! for guys like us that is truly a dream come true
My goal is nearly identical to yours, and it actually hurts to think about how long I've been coming to this site with the plans for doing the same thing and have so little progress to show for it...
Anyway, where are you located? I'd love if there was another builder near by (Wisconsin) that I could visit, and work with towards our goal.

Could be worse. You could have made the site for 1989 batmobile and help many other with same dream and still be no where.
