Hey Brad.
Even thou its a slow start it doesn't matter, you doing it...
Just wanted to know what program you using to do all your drawings and designs in?
Reason Im asking is that Im looking at getting a program myself but dont know where to start or even what is out there. Im not too phased as to how long it will take to learn as it is a skill that needs to be honed in on with time and practice...

Well I agree with the reverse gear idea as it would just make things easier if you ever need to maneuver in and out of places...

Hey Shaggy,
The model has been great. Im just doing my own tweaks here and there based on my observations of the bike. Im re-drawing the hole bike though. I'll most likely CNC some of the parts so need them in a format I can use properly. Your skp files are good, but hard to use.
In regard to what software to use to draw up the bike. Use what you're comfortable with.. there are heaps of good programs. Solid works, Autocad, inventor, Sketchup, Rhino... and the list goes on.

Just ordered my electric hub motor. It'll sit inside the back wheel. I'll run a 72v system which will provide more then enough speed and torque, with the batteries, controller and charger all in the frame engine section. I thought about loading up the radiators with battery cells also but it's probably not needed. I will be making the bike out of a lighter pipe to help keep the weight down as the Pods currently out there seem way to heavy.

Dude that's an awesome idea, I was thinking about reverse gear too because the dam tires are too heavy. I don't think I would be able to use my feet at all times trying to reverse it like flintstones.

I bought some steel today.
Also spoke to a local engineering firm about doing some laser cutting. Might get the centre part of the frame, all the angle brackets, and other parts from flat steel all laser cut. I thought my CNC knowledge / CAD design work might come in handy.

Hey Brad,
Looking good so far, I'm following with interest as a fellow Aussie (S.A.).
I'm guessing you're going to trailer it to shows? Otherwise I was curious about your rego laws up there (Victoria right?). Here in SA it would require engineers more than likely. I went and asked at motor reg about requirements for making a custom motorbike and they had nothing to offer but I'm sure they would when you try to get rego. I was also thinking of going electric and making a really light version to slip under motor reg limits and therefore be classed similar to an electric pushbike so I could ride on the road.
I like your reverse gear idea and Kevin please correct me if I'm wrong but seeing as the bike is 3.5 feet wide I can't imagine too many people being able to get their legs to the ground and be able to walk it. Always figured that was one of the reasons for the fat tyres.
Anyway, keep up the good work
Shane

Yep.. trailer it to shows. Once I've made it I might see what is required to make a street legal one, but for the time being it'll just a functional prop for local comic cons.
