This whole build has been a lot of fun and getting the tyres fitted was no exception. My wheels are 14" wide. Movie bike may have been 15" but 14" was as big as I could get custom made and they still fitted the tyres.
I rang the local tyre place and explained my project. . He was more then happy to try. When I turned up to have the tyres fitted to the wheels, rather then being told the take and seat... the guy from behind the counter came out, virtually ran to the back of my car and pull out a tyre and wheel. He goes... "Whow!!!!" like he'd never seen such big tyres. Walked straight over the tyre fitter machine and kicked the guy in overalls off... the guy serving me was wearing a suit!!. And sure enough they just fit on the machine. When it came time to pay.. he goes " $10 is fine and make sure you bring it in when it's finished". ..
So I received fantastic service, super fast and super cheap. Couldn't be happier. Well done to Bob Jane Tyre Mart.
Are you getting custom made wheels? What's the offset?

Well that sounds promising! ....my wheels are not custom, I was able to purchase 15x14 wide directly from summit racing. I happened to find them on eBay $73.95 us dollars. They have a -4 offset. My hopes (and I use that in all seriousness) is that since I'm essentially going to build the bike "up to " the wheels I should be able to make adjustments to the length of the frame to still end up with the "engine cradle" being centered.

So darn cool bud!
Digging the support wheels or what ever it is you're going to call them LOL...but I think it has more to do with who's riding the bike. If it was me riding it, trust me...they'd be Training Wheels!

Well hopefully it's not an issue. My front spindle is also a different set up from yours. I went with an automotive setup which is from 88-96 Chevy corvette. There no actual spindle, the hub bolts directly to an aluminum bracket which is what pivots. At this point I'm not overly concerned with the pivot point being directly in the center of the wheel. I figured your average automobile isn't set up like that so I'm hoping (there's that word again) as long as its not way off it shouldn't affect the turning.. Like you mentioned, it's not the pivot that's doing much, you're leaning it on the edge to steer. Also as you mentioned I'm sure there will be some trial and error!! Lol ill probably start a thread soon. I was just waititng to get a few more things together before I did.

So here's what happened.... wobbly... then got better. Vehicle stabilizers save me a few times, then started getting in the way. Lifted stabilizer to the higher bolt holes so could corner much better. Need to fix the bearings in the front steering as there's a little too much slop, but on the hole happy with the first road test. Corning is fine on a normal corner but need to do a three point turn in the middle of the road. Again, reverse is very handy.

Awesome man congratulations! I bet that was a good feeling to see your hard work pay off so well! Unfortunately you were right on the money about the offset on my wheel not being big enough. Apparently when I first started looking into this I had a misunderstanding of what the backspace was or how it was determined. Anyway the 4 inch backspacing made it so the spindle stuck almost out to the edge of the wheel. I have since we ordered another wheel with a 6 1/2 inch backspace which is the largest that they even offer. Based on a few rough measurements this looks like it will tuck it in there enough but we will see. If it does not then I will have to go the route you did and have The wheels custom made.

Working on battery / controller cover. Joined the front and back parts together with some bolts and steel rod. Now to add the cover support frame.
Also added a few more holes to lift the vertical stabilizers . They shouldn't get in the way when turning now unless Im doing an obscene lean!!
