For the most part I think I have an idea as to the layout of the program. This is definately harder then I thought. I wish I had some better pics...I took screen shots from the movie however its just out of focus because of the "glow" of the computer as well as the angle. So far I have the screen done save for a few minor tweeks. The tumbler is completely 3d and most parts of it can be clicked on or touched depending on if the computer has a touch screen or not. Right now I have a system scanning animation that basically performs a scan of all the tumblers systems. I also have an animation of the canopy opening so if someone wanted to actually connect a sensor to the program when the canopy opens it will run the animation.
I'm also working on extracting some clips from the movie where the computer is "talking". I'm going to get my computer to speak the same lines and then try running an audio comparison and matching my computers voice to the one in the movie with any luck i will be able to get the computer to sound like the one in the movie. I'm also looking into seeing which computers and tablets support flash. I believe the android tablets should be ok however i'm not sure about the ipad. And at some point I may try tackeling this screen.
I'm wondering if the idea was the computer has different "modes" the above would be like a weapons or attack mode and the screen i'm working on would be a systems mode...Depending on how much time I have I might add the seperate animations for each screen so you can transition between the screens. Also as an idea I could implement a series of animation sequences...meaning I could have a joker sequence and create a simulated attack by the joker with the screens changing and adding audio from the movie...Just a thought...
Glad to hear it was helpful to you.

AWESOME JOB!!! I'm an AV nut (I work as a AV Engineer at a college designing classrooms and what not) and I think you are on to something great here. I know that what you've shown here could easily integrated in a Extron touchscreen controller. Extron allows a bunch of relays, so my thought process with what ive seen you create is this could actually do things like open the doors (Relay actuators) or control the wings (whatever there called). I recently saw a programmable IR device that works through voice commands. You have to aim your remote at it and say the command and it stores the info. Of course this was developed for the disabled, but it seems people are jumping on it so its like there at Tony Starks mansion or something. Still trying to figure out how something like that could even be configured with what you've presented, but just an idea.
Also, I know how to handle computers but by no means anywhere near pc programming. Do they have relay triggers you can adapt to a household computer? Extron equipment is expensive, so my thought process is running relays and serial control through a standard computer.

Basically their are open source projects out their Arduino to name one(check out sparkfun.com wonderful community) Which basically allow hobbiest to program microcontrollers to respond to or control sensors, actuators, voice commands, etc. Typically those microcontrollers can be attached to a computer via serial or usb communication. A lot of times their is documentation to show you how to do that. In order to do something custom you need a programming language (VB.NET, C, C++, C# etc) to build a program to communicate with the attached microcontroller, usually their are plenty of projects and examples on how to do this. Unfortanetly the programming languages have no style when it comes to visual appereance, they basically are a dull box with buttons and textboxes for input and require a lot of programming to change the appearance in which your still limited, that is where flash comes in. Flash is pretty hated by the apple community to some extent however it is wonderful for building futuristic interfaces and is only limited by your imagination I.E. Tony Starks interface, CSI crime show interfaces, Batmans Tumbler. Flash can turn any objects into buttons or anything you can click on. You can also make the interface as real or as fake as you want. I basically have found a process that allows flash to communicate with the programming language which in turn talks to the microcontroller and visa versa. I.E. Button pressed on Tumbler computer screen (flash) -> Tells Program a specific button was clicked on screen, which the program in turn tells the microcontroller to activate one of the I/O pins which is attached to actuator which opens the canopy. All the while verious switches can tell the microcontroller where at in travel the canopy is and adjust the flash animation on the computer accordingly.

I'm not a programmer, so I understand the concept, but I doubt I could setup something that fantastic myself. Or, is it really not that difficult to setup?

Programming has a degree of difficulty however the beauty of it is once you learn to program in a certain language the skills are transferable to pretty much all computer languges with some differences in syntax. Alot of people would ask is it possible to have a futuristic interface like seen in the movies the answer is very much yes. However today's interfaces do the exact same thing but their is no real need to spend the time making a fancy interface Vs a futuristic one. Computer interfaces in movies tend to help reflect the era and theme in which the movie is set in.

Hey man, just want to tell you that you are making awesome work, I'm really impressed, I know this takes tons of work and I would like to know, when you get done this, it will work? like if it will open a door or turn on the lights and stuff like that, just wondering...

I took some inspiration from your work and started on my BlackBerry PlayBook interface that will be inside the BatBerry

Just noticed on this one that you've said only 1 tire is OK in the box on the right, when there should be 2 according to the main image.
Brilliant work though

Picky, picky. . .BRILLIANT work!
I used to teach BASIC and FORTRAN years ago. Your statement on learning one language and transferring to another is completely accurate.
Keep upon your fantastic work.
