Well, it isn't an 89 Keaton, but we all have to start somewhere. As far as factory cars go, this one would have to be one of the choices that Batman would pick if he had his Batmobile reposessed.

This build took me about 2 months of time spread out over 2 years. The car was in BAD shape, but luckily most of the replacement body parts came with the car when I bought it. All of the parts needed some glass work and then body work and then paint.

Suspension needed work. New windshield. Wheels. Airbags. AC unit.

I have worked on a lot of cars but this one needed to be perfect for 2 reasons:

1. I was going to keep it for my own enjoyment.

2. I was going to paint it black.

Everyone who has ever done body and paint knows that black is the most unforgiving color out there. It shows EVERYTHING!! Bad bodywork. It shows. Sanding scratches. They show. But for me any sportscar (including the Keaton car) HAS to be black.

I have over 40 hours in just getting the hood to line up with the front fascia. The hood on this car is similar to the 89 in that it is all one piece. The biggest difference is that the Viper has a front fascia.

The first pictures I will post will be of the ugly. Can't show all at once or the suspense will be ruined. This is how I got the car:

Her mama is a Brown Swiss (dairy) and we don't know what her daddy was. Sweet cow. We have had her since she was born on our farm about 5 years ago.

And now a few pics of the Viper (re) construction. The roof was cracked completely through and the door needed glass work as well.

By far, the worst part of this car was on the upper tail piece. You can see in a previous pic how it was crushed down and the glass was deformed. This took a TON of work. First I grinded it down to the glass (or what was left of it) and then glassed over it all the while trying to keep the original line of the car.

And after bodywork and primer

Here are a few more. This was one of the spots where the roof was completely cracked through and had to be glassed back.

And after repair

And in primer
