Is there any way to get access to these 3d rendering if we can't get into the members section? I've been a longtime lurker studying and haven't really posted because I haven't had anything pertinent to say as of yet. Thanks. -Mike

To those of you thinking about building the Batpod. In the movie they used what is called the "Independent Wheel Drive" design. A link to a history channel clip about the Batpod and its design is below. If you think about it, it really is an ingenious design since you already have massive tires. Just throw a direct drive engine right in the hub and you are not loosing any HP/torque threw the drive shaft. Incase the video does not embed properly here is the linky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HbHgLcW4po

Thanks T-man, hey Thomas, im still not sure exactly where the "engine in the wheel" idea originated, but there are several pictures round and about this site showing a drive train wrapped thru the body of the Batpod, with the engine under the chest. I think we also discovered it to be a Honda engine in that link that T-man just posted .
BUT! if anyone wants to give it a shot, i'm all for seeing if its possible of working

The biggest issue I see with the engine in the wheel idea is that all of them I have seen so far have been electric. And most electric engines even today have one of two issues and sometimes both. They cannot produce the same HP/Torque that a combustion engine can or they have major endurance issues, ie they only run for 5-20 minutes and just die from using up their charge.
Of course since Bruce Wayne has infinite resources (money and manpower) to throw at Research and Development, he can most likely overcome those hurdles. And while it seems that most movie productions are getting infinite budgets these days, they just can't seem to match Bruce Wayne So after seeing the other thread that T-man was so kind to share the link to (THANKS T-MAN) I do have to agree that it would appear that they do have a combustion engine under the seat. Also I found this and if you fast forward to about 1:40 the guy is answering questions about the batpod and does say it is a gas engine.

thomas, they didnt use independant motors in each hub, they used a single cylinder engine,as people said most of it is incorperated into the frame, exhaust ,drive,etc.....lots of people think it has these independant motors but it dosent and you can see all this if you watch the bits on the special dvd,it shows it being built .if you think about it the motors would have to be tiny aswell, anyway thats my little rant over,if you look carfully you get a glimpse of a chain in the rear end of the frame near the hub when the pods on the work bench.

Hey bud. Quick question, dont mean to intrude, my names Skot. How do you even know where to start. I mean when it comes to dimensions and specs. I think I read earlier you use google sketch, that correct? I want to start, and one day finish this project. Im just getting a little intimidated with all this info and I just kind of need to come up with a step one and know where to dig in. Much appreciated
