Ok yes, I was thinking "across both wheels".

I priced my tires today and for some reason, 1600 bucks for 4 swampers doesn't seem like a big deal to me...why? cause my wife talked me into getting 4 OZ 17" rims and pirellis for her eclipse which are closer to 1800. so she can't say ANYTHING when I blow my tax rebate check on a bunch of steel tubing! HaHa!

Hey Conrad I relooked at my numbers and Chilebean is right. The offset starts at the center of the rim. So on a 16.5 x 12 inch rim you have 6 1/2", plus another 1 1/2" for the buldge and 1/2" for half the space between the tires for a negative offset of 8 1/2 inches. I tell you its really complicated and once they are welded it just cost money. So as always deal with a professional and let him make the measurements.....BWD

i always appreciate the advice from you guys. thank you.

So i'm back from the car show and to my sadness there was no WB Big promotion for the new movie and yes, no Tumbler. So i enjoyed the rest of the worlds cars with my wife and some friends. lots of shiny cool cars...awesome gas guzzlers and many hybrids. Lot's of emphasis on that, and electric cars and diesel engines. Some cool concepts too. here's some pics...

I'm sorry i have to say it...that's a nice ass.

Another ZR1. dear lord. I want one. badly. If someone said, either this or the Tumbler...i'd say the Tumbler.

The disc brakes on here are the same size as the rims on my jeep.

This chick loves the car

Conrad, I'm drooling over here, wow, i cut-away LS9, omg, i wish i could have been there to see that in person.

LOL, i was about to agree with you about the nice ass ordeal, but then Chilebean said what he said, and THEN i noticed the lady standing beside the car.

Wow, thats sad, I drooled over the cars ass, and THEN i noticed some lady lumps on the side.

So my chassis is looking more and more like Daves.  I keep looking at the location where the original mounted it's links from the body to their rear axle and where Dave mounted them.  I keep thinking that it looks really strong.  Plus the fact that the way the Front axle arms connect and become part of the body turns me on (not in That way..ha). I keep thinking how great and simple of a design BWD's perimeter frame really is. I've been editing my model. I don't have any real pictures yet - It's all just scribble and half-assembled in software. when I'm done, I post.

In about a week I order my first bunch of tubing. I'm just doing some final mods to my model and double checking my frame size. hope to be ready before the end of next week so I can start cutting and fitting that weekend.

I ordered the 39" Swampers today.

Conrad I am so happy for you and getting the tires will be a big moment. I remember I wanted to just bring all my car parts into my bedroom and look at them. I remember my whole idea of building the Tumbler started with those Super Swamper tires......Good luck....BWD

OK this is great....

On my way back from lunch I passed yet another new huge home under construction, being packed into an already packed area. There was a black Ford F350 SuperDuty with flames all over it, lifted about 2 or 3 feet. of course I only noticed this after seeing 4 39" (Irok) Swampers on the rear. I immediately stopped and spoke to the owner who was working a Caterpillar on the site. I was asking him about the rear and he said the rims needed to be "specially" made so that the tires would not touch. everything else was OEM. He gave me the name of a place right here on Long island (www.rmsoffroad.com). I guess that surprised me cause there's not alot of shops like this out here.

Weird timing (JUST ordered tires). funny how things work sometimes. So I now have a professional place/person to seriously talk with about my project. will set something up to maybe see him this weekend. I'm betting though he'll be pricey (stop laughing Dave) either way, I am serious about this and will be willing to pay and and be patient and do whatever I have to, to make my dream come true.

I just hope they/he's not a jerk.
