Okay, so we all thought that our cars came from the Jay O./ Bob B. molds, right? Well somewhere in between we are missing some very important facts. First when was the car made smaller and by who? Second, the car in Tallahassee is a smaller car and Kevin says its a Jay O car, right? Then why is it a 2-piece body with flanges around the separation between the front and rear halves with built in gun doors, side doors, and trunk lid? Our kits came as a 1-piece body with no flanges, separate gun doors, side doors, and trunk lid? So I say to you if the car in Tallahassee and outer museums were built by Jay O then why are they different than ours? My thought is that the molds that Bob B. got from Jay O. were just splash molds pulled off of one of the museum/Six Flags bodies. That would explain why our bodies are so crappy compared to the museum cars. So did jay pull a fast one on Bob and sell him Splash molds? Where are the 2 piece molds with the built in gun doors and such?

Time for some detective work. But first - a sandwich.

I'm just waiting for Kevin's answer to this one.... I bet it starts out with "Bob told me.....". It really is a strange one but I bet Jay was delievered the bodies by WB and never saw the real molds. He then pulled molds off of one of the bodies. Then when the crap hit the fan he sold those molds to Bob B. This would also explain why that front clip you posted a long time ago had the flanges and was only half of the 2 pieces.

Hey Rustmister (that just sounds wrong). Never seen or even heard of a flip top body until Kevin mentioned it. I think it's probably just another Bat urban legend. Now lets see those pix.

Bob told me that his molds came from Jay along with a lot of other Batman items and unrelated items for a 175 thousand-dollar loan.

Bob did ask me if I wanted the car in one or two pieces, it is possible that the molds have flanges. Ask Yancy and Pruit they have Bob’s old molds.

Batduplex did have those molds listed on his web site years ago. I remember seeing them, I think those had flanges but I am not completely sure.

Yancey told me his molds started off as one piece and then he cut the molds and added the flanges. And still doesn't explain the gun doors and such.
