Okay, now I think this has gone a little too far! You can't exactly use logic and reason in a comic book world! There is'nt really any of this stuff there, remember? Fake wires and switches.

logic and reason in a movie/comic book world is fun, sure there just fake swtiches and wires there, but when u bring something form a fake world into real life u have a little control by using logic and reason ur able to think of things taht them fake wires and swtichs can do. overall the batmobile is easy to figure out, my working batbelt has been more trouble then the batmobile. but over all logic + reason + imagnation = kick ass items.

"Gentlemen, let's broaden our minds"
Remember the journey to the batcave after they got in the tunnel? Vicki Vale could see behind no problem. Granted, it's not realistic by far, but if she can then so can Batsey. I don't want to take sides because I'm rather two-faced(no pun intended) on the situation. Why would Bruce Wayne bother keeping 2 motors he has to maintain? That's an awful lot of work for poor old Alfred. Perhaps the Batmobile can go in reverse. Seeing as this is the batmobile and can pretty much do anything and has just about everything except nightvisioned windows, and since it's not specified what type of jet engine is used in the car, they (Alfred and Bruce) may have made some alterations that reversed the flow of air through the motor or something. Whyle not realistically possible to my knowledge, bear in mind that this is a movie.
On second thought, why would he bother putting reverse on the batmobile? I'm pretty sure that Batman knows his way around the city well enough to avoid any turn around situations, and if not, he probably has gps on his tv monitor. If he comes up on a situation that he has to turn around say due to traffic and he's in a hurry, he has that rotating thing under the bottom. Which I think is really kool by the way. Where it fits and how it works I have no clue. If he is not in a hurry then he can wait. Or if he comes up to 2 buildings pointlessly protruding into the street as in Returns, then he has that self-destruct button, which is apparently a universal switch that operates every thing else on the car because I saw him use it at least 3 times for clown-trippers, the flame-burst, and the self-destruct.
So there you have it guys (and gals). I can also tell you like someone told me on here in the past: its a movie so i wouldn't spend too much tyme worrying about it.

Batmoible cannot reverse b/c the wings in the rear blocks all possible views.
And I don't see any holes to be used for rear view camera either.

wings dont stop it form going in reverse, try driving a hearse where u have little vission besides the side view mirrors. as i said he most likly has cammras on the car, just cuz u dont see holes doesnt mean there not there, the ones im installing on my batmobile have a pin zized hole, so if u were looking at it u would never know. so as i siad, just cuz u dont see them doesnt mean they cant be there.
i belive this is one topic where we will all just have to agree to disagree. seeing as we never see it go in reverse but we never hear it cant. but just cuz we dont see somethign doest mean it can or cant.

read the article
HOW WE MADE THE BATMOBILE by H.G. Nelson
We rushed the buck from Lithgow wind tunnels to the Dutch floatation labs that told Benny Lexcen in 1983 he was on the right track when he burst through the doors with the winged keel tucked under his arm, shouting, "Hey blokes, have a scrute at this and tell me if it will float?. "
The tank tests, using the coloured dyes, showed that we had stumbled across a dead set inversion of the normal state of affairs with the Batmoible prototype.
The test proved conclusively that the car could travel greater speeds in reverse than forward, a secret feature that gives Batman the edge in tight situations where the unusual is called for. After all, surprise is the only element that keeps Mister B ahead of the Joker, the Riddler, the Penguin and the dreaded Mr Freeze....
