Placed a copy of this posting here for anyone who might be planning to, and/or actually building a bat vehicle.
Received an email today stating,
"I am designing a stretched and modified frame for a bat mobile. What is easiest way to make the frame more ridged and less effected by torque and bending?

The "easiest way to make the frame more ridged and less effected by torque and bending", also known as, twisting loads and vertical/horizontal bending, is to add X s and angles.

A photo-image is worth a thousand words as the one I have attached demonstrates.

A good way to figure out where to add the X s and angles is to draw out your frame on paper and then analyze the frame for points of compression, tension, and torque. Then mark the directions of these forces with arrows.

Another way to analyze the frame for the above characteristics is to build a model frame from light weight cardboard, Styrofoam, and/or balsa wood and then apply twisting loads and vertical/horizontal bending loads.
I personally like to model cut frames around 1/6th scale and parts from Styrofoam, glue them together, then apply forces.

There are also CAD and other programs that can be used to model structural forces. Some are very expensive, other with free trials, while others are free.
The learning curves for these programs are hundreds of hours and higher. vertigo

Just found a replica B v S DOJ batmobile I was not aware of today.

8-minute embedded YouTube video is very revealing particularly exterior lighting and especially the dash lighting method and resulting effects.

Sergio Galiano Checks Out a Crazy Real-Life 'Dawn of Justice' Batmobile
16 Dec 2021, 17:36 UTC · by Humphrey Bwayo

"Let's face it. You don’t see a Batmobile every day, not in your neighborhood, not even in Hollywood. While only a handful of people have had the chance to see the real-life Batmobile
Amires Batmobile is a bang-on replica of the real thing.

This crazy Batmobile comes with a fiberglass and carbon fiber body for weight reduction. It also comes with an angular body with crazy wings and air intakes. It is so high up you need a step just like on a truck to hop in.

It’s wide on the front and resembles a scorpion with its sting low. To run such a monstrous build, you need a capable motor. This Batmobile comes with a supercharged Ford Raptor engine that makes a little over 700 hp.

The wheels are equally humongous and sit tall, each weighing about 500 kg or 1,102 lbs. If you think this build looks crazy at the front, you need to check out the back. It’s a combination of a farm input machine and a crazy rover from space with a flame thrower at the center.

Galiano loves the tiny taillights. He thinks it’s like a nice little combination of the biggest wheels you have ever seen in your life and a tiny little taillight. The exhaust at the back isn’t just for show, it’ll throw blue flames when revved to a certain point. It comes with some cool doors as well, like a reverse Lamborghini door solution.

In the interior there is a crazy selection of knobs and buttons. At the center, there is a normal-looking automatic gear selector from a base model 90s Civic. It never really crossed my mind Batman drives an automatic.

There’s a three-step method of turning this thing on, and it sounds fantastic! It also takes quite some time backing it out from the garage, which isn’t very ‘Batmany’ in my opinion."

A photo-image is worth a thousand words.
The attached photo-image of the cockpit's interior is very revealing.
Interesting how the builders solved the building of the interior. Steering wheel did not present too much of a challenge.
In particular, the dash control panels.

Well, someday soon I hope.

How to Cut and Shape Foam without a CNC Foam Router or other expensive Professional Tools
Part One
So, what is the best tool to use for removing the most excess waste foam material in the least amount of time.
The Hot Wire Cutter:
The bow hot wire foam cutting tool is used for hand cutting and shaping. The commercially sold units are relatively cheap, but if you have a hand conduit bender can be made yourself for a few dollars. Sculpturers of foam usually have bow hot wire cutters that range from one foot to eight feet. Nothing removes excess waste foam like a hot wire cutter.

The attached video is the best that I have seen on the hot wire bow cutter.

A simple homemade hot wire cutter and power supply that described the basics.
How sophisticated your hot wire cutter is depends on how creative you designed unit is.

I have tried a hot wire without much luck. Foam tends to keep melting a little after the wire passes which leaves an unpredictable cut.

Part Two
Hot Wire Cutter Power Supply Basics

The basics of building a hot wire cutter (be it for foam, plastic, ice, or otherwise) are fairly simple. The goal here is to build a precision power controller so that you can heat up just about any hot wire cutter to the exact temperature you need it.

Nichrome Wire Hot Wire Parameters
Most foam products will require a wire capable of reaching 600°F (315°C) or higher. To heat 18 AWG Nichrome to this temperature range will require 6.5 amps. At 20 AWG, you need just over five amps. With a 26 AWG Nichrome wire, only 2.1 amps are required.

There are many ways to reach these Nichrome Wire Hot Wire Parameters using battery packs or 120V transformer fixed/variable controlled outputs. Thousands of power supply and hot wire setup plans and image files can be found online.
