Lexan is more scratch restant and stronger than Plexi the price is about the same.

Also less destortion and will not degrade as bad as plexi does over time.

Almost all light aircraft windscreens are made out of lexan should tell you something there.

Kevin, tell us how to install the Lexan.

How did you make a pattern?

Where did you get the Lexan?

How did you cut it.

How did you keep it in place while up drilled all those holes?

Did you have to use a special drill bit?

Did you drill the lexan or the canopy first?

What did you use to hold the screws in place?

You know the kind of stuff that helps others builder do theirs easier.

Since Jack wants to argue every point with me, like the canopy is not cut and the canopy rolls on top of the hood. The pictures clearly show the hood is cut and the center bar goes through the hood.

The canopy has a lip, the pictures clearly show there is no lip only the canopy is thicker than the replicas and a seal is between the canopy and the glass.

Jack is clearly the expert on these matters let him explain how the glass is installed into the canopy. I am sure I must have done it incorrectly and there is some hidden lip some where that is not seen in any of the photos.

I am sure Jack knows how the glass is cut drilled sealed and installed, so there is no need for me to explain how it is done!

Well, thank you.

So you are talking about your car not the original, correct?

Argue what points?  That on the original that the canopy slides in a slot in the hood?  The pictures prove that.  That there is a 1992 Batmobile, well that was proven too.  Maybe you mean that the Moore car is a 2 piece body and does not have a tilt/flip "Body", also proven.  That's not arguing that's just the facts.  We have all heard or gotten bad info.

For the record I never said the canopy has a lip (flange) for the window.  I've seen the Moore car and all the pix from the net.  I know there is no flange.  The canopy is just really thick (like you said).  And except that yours (our) canopys arethinner and that you added more hardware (proably for the better) I would agree that you did it exactly like the "real" cars.  Like I said the only reason I could see to add the flange is to use real DOD safety glass.

If you don't want to share your info and help the rest of us I guess we will just have to wait an hour or so and Rusty can show us.   Or you could share what you know for fact like how YOU did YOUR canopy.  Your choice but I and the rest of CLTC would appreciate your insight.

Oh boy, here we go.... The last thing we need is members of the board getting their feelings hurt. I mean, come on guys! The whole point is to argue and discuss our opinions and thoughts on how the car is put together! None of us can say FOR SURE about anything, unless we actually WORKED on the original cars! If not, we are only debating and trying to come to an agreement. Don't make it a personal matter....

~ Steps down from soapbox ~
Ok, so - I think we have discussed this before - has anybody added curved glass to their cars yet? I think Bob D. or Bob C. suggested that it would really give the car a "real" look... Anybody know how we could go about doing that?

For that matter - do we have some pics of the "real" car? Did it have curved glass (as in, did the glass bow out slightly?)....

Justin you are correct, no one knows everything about the cars, but it sure does seem like Rusty has an insight.  Doesn't it?

Sorry if I hurt your feelings Kevin.  I'm only trying to point out what Justin said, no one knows everything and that we are still learning new stuff everyday.  It just seems like to me that you are the only one unwilling to admit that you could have been wrong or just got wrong info.  Seems like to me you are the wanting to stick by your guns and argue even when the pix prove otherwise.

Again I'm sorry.  NOW PLEASE SHARE YOUR LEXAN INFO!!!!
