I bought a Bat Pod from Gotham FX awhile back.  The frame was built by parker brothers.  It was nice when I bought it, but alot of pieces on it were missing or far from screen accurate.  I have studying pics of the movie pod and finding items that are close to screen accurate and have been putting them on.

There is one item, that I can't seem to identify what it is, I started to fabricate one but before I get into a lot of the work on that, I wanted to check to see if anyone could help me identify what it is.

Here is a picture, I am looking to identify the round piece the in middle of the pod

Batmobile

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have to be honest, I been a member here for a while and have been working on my bat pod for a while, but I have been hesitant to post about my project.   The reason is there are some real talented people on here that have built there stuff from scratch.

I am just taking what someone else started and finish it the best I can.

I will post up some before after pics of what I have done so far

Here is a pic how it looked when I first got it.

Batmobile

Since this pic,

We fabricated a bigger area to store the 4- 12 volt batteries, because it has an electric motor.

We lowered the entire pod at least 6 inches

We fabricated more accurate foot bracket pieces

put air cylnders on it.

Covered the axles and fixed the gun mountes

I cut out the ugly fiberlass middle piece

Here are a couple of pics of  how it looks now.

We still have alot work to go then and then I need to repaint the whole thing.

Looks great. Keep us posted.

A lot of accomplished builders here are real modest. Check BWD. That man has built so many batmobiles and pods and he's still humble in all his posts. You shouldn't worry or feel in anway upstaged by other builds. =D

Hey INDY, yeah I like the words of sir Issac Newton when asked about his greatest theories. He said if I was able to see further its only because I stood on the shoulders of giants who came before me. When I found this site I was a newbie in knowledge and skills. Over the years I've tried to improve both. Through this site and the members who helped me when I first arrived I've slowly improved. We all like the detail pics of anything Batpod so thank you for sharing. I have wondered with a couple members about that round piece and I personally feel it might be a horn. Thanks again for sharing......BWD

Everyone obviously knows the round piece you speak of is Tony Stark's Arc Reactor painted black.

Honestly I have no clue for the source, and your talking to a guy who has scrounged that back left/right/up/down for every detail I could when I build my 3D model here a while back.

Thanks for the reply's

BWD, I am actually using a horn that I took of an electric pallet jack for the base of this part.

We are in the process of fabricating this round piece since, It appears to be a made piece.

Shaggy, It's funny that you mention, Iron mans chest piece, I only saw Iron Man 1 when it 1st came out.  Just this past weekend, I was watching Iron Man 1 and 2 on the television and I said wow that chest piece is very similar to piece on the bat pod.

I am waiting for some parts to come in, so we couldn't do any more fabrication at this time. so this past weekend, I brought the Bat Pod to my perosnal garage.  We have been doing alot of the fabrication work at my buisness garage.

We made up a make shift paint booth.

Neither my friend or I have a lot of experience painting, but we have been doing some research and we were anxious to see how  some of the almuminum and steel pieces would look painted.

Here are some pics

Brought the Bat Pod back up to my work shop so that we could do some more fabrication.

The movie pod has radiator on the back. My pod has a thick metal box instead of radiator welded to the frame. So I made the holes in the top and side of the box, very similar to the movie pods. Tommorow I am going to cut out a portion of the box. I will use a die grinder to cut the box out so that will be easier than making the holes that I did today. For the holes I drilled holes and then took a dremel and hand made the holes. It was the only thing I had small enough. I killed my dremel halfway through making these holes. I had to go buy a new dremel

Here is a before pic

and holes on the side

I hope to get box cut out and the radiator installed tommorow.

Then it's on to the next side to make brackets and install the same master brake cylinder that they used on the movie pod.

I will post more pics tommorow if I have anything new to show.

Today's update,

We cut out the metal box and installed the radiator.

Had to customize the radiator a little to make it fit.

Here are some pics.

I hope to have another update tommorrow on the other side for the brackets and master cylnder.

Hey Indy I am really enjoying your pics. I am slowly putting my mock up back together. My initial thought was to just move to building the honu2 an improved version of the Batpod. But I am tempted to go back and make a running original like yourself. I would love to see how it feels to drive it. I have an idea what it would run like but until you actually get to drive it you really don't know.
I wanted to ask if you had driven yours much and how did it handle in your opinion? Thanks in advance Dave
