| I've loved the 66 Batmobile since I was a kid. I finally have a place to build one, and once the bank account recovered from the garage build and outfitting, I'm thinking of starting my own build of a 66. I have a couple questions about the car in general. Read through a lot of the forum discussion, but saw nothing remotely close to discussion this. 1. Do the rear windshields catch air at highway speeds and cause a lot of buffeting, maybe even enough to rip those rear canopies off? 2. What about handling? Is the 76-79 Lincoln a suitable platform from a handling standpoint? I know the original weighed in at 5500 lbs, but what about the fiberglass kits available today? Obviously, I'd rebuild the suspension with new springs and shocks, but are upgraded and/or performance parts available? If it handles like a pig, that can make things embarassing while driving it, since I'm sure it attracts a lot of attaction, and every yahoo wants to race you. 3. Legality - Are there are problems putting it into car shows? I understand that the nasty lawyers don't want you making any money off their trademarks, so getting paid for public appearances is probably out, huh? Thanks,

To answer some of your questions. I have had my car up to 75mph and the rear canopies hold just fine, and I have customers driving there's with no problems. I matters how you mount them down. some guys use an L-bracket setup. I do not!! I made a channel for the canopies to sit into and use window weld to install them and bolted the center to the arch bar. rock solid!! also make sure when you buy a kit it has 1/4 inch thick canopies that helps too. as far as the Lincoln donor. it's a easier build because everything fits, wheel base, engine height, firewall lines up, wheel track is close etc. they don't handle too bad. you will need to cut the springs a bit. I cut 1 1/2 coils off the front and 1 coil of the rear and it does alright. just be careful under extremely hard acceleration it will wheel hop with the 3 link rear end. and last but not least I showed mine all summer, and had no problems, My car even made the newspapers 4 times. hope this helps
