Hey Youngbat, I think when someone asks how long its taken you to to get to this point in your build you almost have to say all your life....Because it is the accumuation of all your knowledge and skills that have gotten you to this point. I think its good to encourage people but as you so aptly put it many dreams and good intention sit in garages as partially completed dreams. More of a reminder of what was not to be.....The starting of these projects should not be taken lightly as it will draw resources and precious time from more worthwhile goals. The need for single minded determination cannot be over stressed.....One has to determine the cost, then pay the price....That was very well said......your pal, BWD

Thanks, I just think that the best contribution I can give, is to relate how this whole thing has effected me, as it might affect others in similar ways, but also to express the potential downside of this, that could happen to anyone. I also felt that while getting technical advice from others is a good thing, reliance on that too much could get you into a mindset where you tend not to think outof the box much. i.e. there's always many ways to do any hands on type senerio, while my way may have worked for me, someone else may think of a way that's 10x's better if they are confident, have a strong sense of what they want. I like to watch the early seasons of O.C.C. where they often occured many headaches during the build. On boyd C.'s show they used to have a lot rough spots during their builds. Helps to remind that a one-off, hand made vehicles are rarely gona go without some rough spots, and teeth nashing times. stress will present itself. I tell bob c. that this whole thing of building a one-of, by yourself is a sort rite-of-passage type thing, because of the massive size, commitment. You do it once, if you are working alone. Once you get so far along, there is no quitting, there is no dumping the project. If you do, you will feel that frustration and angst for years to come. You may hit points where you say "oh god what did I get myself into". You have to block that out compleley and be driven.

Hey Youngbat, I think that's the great message. I had started the 89 first and then ended up starting the Rumbler.....There have been numerous I wished I had not started either car. I think the failure rate for not completing projects is so high....Maybe 90%.....I watched a lot of Monster garage, OCC and American hotrod...Now that I've gotten to see what's involved I realize when guys are good at the trades they make it appear easy......They say 90% of what they shoot on those shows never gets aired....So what we see is miniscule and of course the successes.... Even though I've used some great guys to help me build there are many times they look to me to make that decision.....Do you want it this way or that way? Knowing a mistake will only be a cost to me in terms of money.... This site CLTC has been an inspiration since I can literally talk to talented guys like yourself from the comfort of my living room. And just like working out in a gym verses by yourself I find motivation in working with others around me...I've said it many times before if only we all lived in the same nieghborhood wouldn't that be a great place to build our cars.....Thanks for the inspiration...BWD

Building and owning a Batmobile is a passion for me. It is not easy, but I can say it has been worth every hour and dollar invested. And, I agree with BWD, CLTC has been an amazing source of friendship, support and help.

Here's a shot I just took. this is the afterburner as I just finished up the first half of it. Still have to build the stuff inside the outer hoop. tons of parts inside that hoop. The outer hoop is brushed aluminum that has to be painted. Most of the front section is done, but still have to stick in the guns. still assembling after a massive strip-down to paint the chassis. what a pain. The afterburner was cast off of a clay sculpture of it. There is a second half that connects to it, and rides between the two rear coil-over shocks.

Hey just read your answer on the time you put into this. I admire you for your drive, determination, dedication and am envious of your detailed eye. You say things are off huh? Well I guess that's just a perfectionists preference cause I would LOVE to have just half of your "inaccurate" body. Puh-lease. that thing is A WORK OF PURE ART. I know, I know, it's not exact.....OooooooKay.
Again, awesome awesome work. I apologize in advance for hounding you when i get to my body build....in about 2 years!!
And just needed to add: I will not give up on this, no matter what. I only have one life, this is it. My family knows how dedicated I am and are with me 100%. It's been a year since I've been on this site and I have yet to really start the build. Like you youngbat, I am learning, from others here, studying the crap out of that body and all it's intricate details and being very patient.
...does it come in black?

much thanks guys. when I say off, I only mean under an inch. I did some overlays to check it, and the only thing I could spot was the leg next to the rear gas cap should've been about 1/2 closer, and the air foil connected to the rear lower air intake should be moved about 1/2" downward, that is easy, the leg next to the gas cap I can't change. That was probaly due to each part having a variance of say 1/8" or less. it adds up cumlitively. This car is a house of cards. in every way.

I realized that your front bars don't have the turning mechanism like the original and its just bars. Does this mean it does not have steering yet? And is there an engine yet?
Why do we fall, Master Bruce?
