Hey MT35 in looking at that photo I am going to guess that it is a piece of fireproof material to keep the hot metal from the turbine from radiating heat to the paint on the fiberglass body. But again that's just a guess....Great pics....BWD

Hey Mr. A, I noticed that too, but i wasnt sure why it looked like a "cut off nubb" in the 89 shot like that. Was it on purpose? was that part actually functionable on the 89? I know for a fact it was functionable on the 92, because when he pulls up to Michelle Pfeiffer for the first time (after burning the clown) he stands up out of the cockpit and his right hand grabs that rod for support. hmm....

the 'rod' is the actuator for opening/closing the canopy. The headrests change during Batman/Batman Returns depending on the movie 'shot'. BTW in the Batman still above (with the lovely Vikki Vale) the headrests are an old "Ford Capri"/"Recaro" : "Fishnet" headrest'. (Try it on Ebay) Also, note the lack of seats in that shot above (could be the cutaway cockpit in WB warehouse, or the one at the Gat museum ?.

BTW: In Batman, John Evans & his team made two cars only (watch the 2nd disc of Batman SE) I wonder where the molds went ? One for 'stunt work' and one for 'showroom' ("fully functional": hope ya know what I mean). I'm sure, these are still under DC/WB supervision/storage (think Onstar). In Returns (my own opinion) : they made some others to add to the collection (Turntable car and Batmissile for instance) and changed the 'originals' also (Window wipers being the obvious: I think they made another 7 cars for the movie, although not all complete drivers). This is when the 'kits' were molded/made (although not strictly 'copies' of the main screen used cars). WB do put out 'Promo' cars, but they are not copies of the 89. I think they want to keep the 'exclusivity' of the 'originals' for themselves. Almost every car in a Museum/Car Show/Auction, is a "92 Batmobile, used during the filming of Batman Returns". I believe, we at CLTC are still finding out stuff about the 89 and 92 and I hope I'll be corrected or 'proved' wrong on the above. For example, we only discovered in the last few years the 89 has a big butt and different side-mechanics on each side.

Hey Mr. A, just curious, what caught your eye in that last pic to make you ask if it was an 89 and and a 92 sitting side by side? If i could make a guess, i would say that they are one and the same, but whether that means they are BOTH 89's or BOTH 92's i couldnt say, i havent gotten that good yet.

Both of those are replicas by Jay, of which he built 18. Where did the molds go? Jay used them and returned them back to the WB warehouse. Once he narrowed the rear he pulled new molds...
