I'm surprised that you say the finish is still not right. I saw an 89 in 1989 at a car show with the blue/green/red tints, but it was my understanding that this was only done to the show cars to make them a little more "flashy". I guess you would know better than I what the actual car looks like up close and personal, but I thought the finish on the 1/18th was accurate. I also very much like the finish on the wheels. What would you call that, gunmetal?

Dave, you seem very reluctant to receive praise. I've got to tell you, you deserve all of our gratitude. This web site is dedicated to the Batmobile but it's all of the fans that keep it interesting. I can't thank you enough for your work bringing this car back full force. Even as much as I think I know about the car I never would have noticed the errors you have mentioned. I'll never understand how you were able to get so much detail in the 1/64th car. Your 1/18th car is one of only a handful of “toys” I am able to display in the living room. Even my wife thinks it looks great. So all that being said, DAVE IS GREAT. Please, excuse the Butt kissing....

I'll tell you something guys, I'm always humble to the fans out there first. When I heard that we were doing Batman items at Mattel I almost passed out and I knew EXACTLY what that meant for Hot Wheels...BATMOBILES! I started my research early on the 1989 and spoke to a LOT of people out there, fans like you and me. Sure WB made a world of difference but it was a guy in England, another guy in Florida, a couple of friends back in NY...all of these people contributed in a way. Besides, usually the best design work comes from a designer that creates something first, for himself...selfishly. I was tired of looking at that 1/24 scale model kit and wanted a cool a$$ 1989 Batmobile for myself...on my shelf. As a result...you guys got one too.
Dave
p.s. plus I think it's one awesome designed car. It's anti-everything I was taught as an automotive designer...so therefore I love it!

A true fan. That would explain why the scale cars are so awesome. I would love to see a picture of the 1/7th. Thanks again. Jack

Dave, that's great news, Thank you. I look forward to a full mailbox when I get home from work. I'm in the Air Force and work second shift so I won't be home until around midnight, but I can hardly wait to see what you send. Thanks, Jack
