Replica owners

Where are you going to go and what are you going to do when the car is complete? You all look like have families so I don't think you have chick to impress. It'd be cool if you have a high school son and let him take the car for his prom night.

Tim, does your son have a girl he wants to impress once his go-cart is complete?

RE: Replica owners

If you take a girl to a prom in your dad's Batmobile.... chances are you will first visit the police station to report a stolen car. Second, you are walking your date home. Thirdly, you no longer have a home.

RE: Replica owners

As much as I love the car, I wouldn't have used it for my prom. It has no backseat.

RE: Replica owners

The guy who is building Dan's car showed me pics of others he had built... He actually built one with a backseat!

RE: Replica owners

Once mine is done I'm going to drive it down my city's streets late at night dressed like the 1960's Batman, or maybe wearing the shittiest batman costume I can find. I'll screetch to a halt next to complete strangers, pull the canopy forward, and shout "NO ONE WILL EVER BELIEVE YOU"

RE: Replica owners

I didn't know Kevin's is going to have a back seat! I wonder if he has told me that before? Hmmm.... he probably did. I HAVE TOO MUCH INFO IN MY HEAD!!! I can't keep it all straight. Jack, aren't you building a KITT or something like that?

RE: Replica owners

RE: Replica owners

I'm going to drive mine to a Denny's, order the "Moons over My Hammy" and then take two forks and.... ....wait a minute, I just remembered that I won't fit in my 89. nevermind...

RE: Replica owners

I am maby 20% into my 89 Keaton Batmobile replica project.

Mine has a single front seat with a horseshoe type wrap-around dash, and a 2 to 3 passenger rear seat. The basic body/chassis was an 83 Riveria which I extended 36".

Gee is this re-wiring fun to do or what? The poor car looks like the scene in Batman Returns where they dismantled the car to remote controll it!

What an Awsome page this is here !!!!

Correspondance is welcome with anyone making one also.
Sincerely Bill W.

RE: Replica owners

Word. Hey Bill, if you need hosting space for your pics, you can upload directly to this site (see the photo upload section) or you can send them to tim to host, or me. We would love to see what you are working on!

My site ----> http://www.thebatcave8k.com

Tim's site ----> http://www.1989batmobile.com

Who did you get your body from? Or did you fab your own?

RE: Replica owners

Hi again guys,

In response to the body, I will be building my own, in a similar fashion to Tims' go-cart for his son. What I've done so far is to chop the Riveria, extend it, start rewiring, acquire a new steering colum, and buy many new tools to start my project. I was using literary licence saying it looked like the car in Batman Returns, but when the wiring was everywhere thats what it reminded me of. The body hasn't been started yet.

I plan on having it as close to original externally as I can, with the exception of having to use available auto glass for the windshield, and windows, having blinkers front and back, and a few needed things to make the law happy.

The pix will be ready next week of what I have done so far, but to be honest I hope they don't fall to short of the mark for the pro builders out there, because...as a welder, and auto body man,,I am a beginner.... but hey ,I try

When I get my offset rims and wheels in a few weeks, I plan on getting the framing started for the front fenders, but lack direction body-wise till then, because I don't have any specific measurements for diameters and widths untill I get the tires and rims on.

I do have a completed Batman Costume I made 10 years ago, and have modified some since then. I and plan on using the vehicle and suit, for charity work for funds for the local Tampa Florida Boys and Girls club once its all ready.

Thanks for the encouagement already gang!
Bill

RE: Replica owners

HOw do you owners deal with parking?
Doesn't the car take up two spaces? Enough to get a ticket perhaps?

And even with side mirrors and monitor, isn't the blind spots too big?

RE: Replica owners

It cant be any worse than driving a HumVee
