RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
I would love to hear how it was built, and by whom! The technique can be applied to ANY car I imagine, including all of our fave Bat! Also, I would like to know the level of functionality it boasts....
LONG LIVE SCRATCH BUILT PROJECTS!!!

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
Yeah me too. I wonder if it even has a drive train. If so it loos as if it would have to be rear wheel drive. I'm hoping that maybe Dave will come around with some info about it.

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
I saw this posted on the 66 board, too.
Probably just a promotional piece.
There were also other lifesize hot wheels cars on Petersen Museum last year when I went.

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
Either that or a very well photoshopped piece.
Notice the absence of any shadow on the kid or the car.

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
Maybe it is just paranoia, but now that you mention it, it DOES look like a Photoshop job.. I notice some rough edges around the car, where it could potentially have been cut out. It looks like a cheesy, semi transparent drop shadow effect was used to make it fit in... Of course, I am probably seeing things since you brought it up!

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
Naw, that's 100% legit. There is a shadow, it just the platform isn't very good at showing it. That, and the body rides so low that it creats an optical illusion from some angles, like in that last pic. By the way, it appears to be just a shell. You can see right through the car to the floor underneath.

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
Hey just saw this! Well it looks a bit odd in some places but I'm guessing that it's full size. What's interesting is that it's a replica of the one Dream Halloween charity item I did back in 2003. That Batmobile was a modified version of the toy car we did for the action figure line. What I did was mold the canopy (to make 2 identical ones) and mold the engine exhaust to get rid of the pull-out Robin jet cycle. That model was created for the auction and no molds were made so I'm surprised to see this. I wonder if the winner of the piece had some say in this (?) The one 1/64 I did for Hot Wheels (#001 I think) was a stretched out version of this one. I may have sent Jack some images of the one I customized that this was copied from, if not I'll resend. BTW, you can see some ratty edges and some surface movement on the front fender which kinda tells me it's legit. There is something funny about the shadows though.

RE: Lifesize Mattel Batmobile
That's just wrong. I do have a real cool picture of Dave's Trans-Am and and one of a neat Tri-cycle.
Then of course there are these.
Now stop jerking my chain and make with the Blueprints.
