Vehicle differences

Does anyone know anything about these two cars and why there are so many differences?

RE: Vehicle differences

Okay, I think I found the answer to what is the accurate version. Yes, I know that I am the only nut out here taking pictures of my TV... But it's not like I really need another excuse to watch Batman again...

Looks like the pipe on the glossy paint job is original at least to the first film. You can see in the picture that the pipe is on the bottom and the grappling hook device is oriented as it is on the glossy car. This is the way my replica will be. If anyone has any more images of this SEND THEM TO ME! Thanks...

I'd still like to know more about the other car if anyone has any info.

RE: Vehicle differences

Dang,
You've got some nice TV if a camera pic on TV comes as clear like that.

RE: Vehicle differences

From anonymous source:
"There are two main fibreglass parts in the photos. Those being the "Engine" and the "distributor cap" Those are the only parts that were molded from the original metal parts on the film car. The remaining wires, hoses, heat shields and solonoids have to be purchased from auto supply stores and their availability is not constant. As the "Assembly Manual" is a rare commodity, different builders assemble the same parts in different configurations. The flat black, gloss black, gray, purple/green/gold/black irredesant paint job controversy is something that will go on for years to come and is simply a matter of preference. But the film cars were flat black and all of the show cars were gloss black or purple to attract visitors. On-Star decided to tour their car in gray for a few years and finally yielded to pressure from fans."

RE: Vehicle differences

Both cars are replicas, the lower car is a Jay Ohrburg built car. I am not shure about the top car, it is possable it is also a Jay car but not certain.

RE: Vehicle differences

I thought that one was an Electronic engine(For indoor use) and the other was a gas engine -shrug-.

Tim,
Here's the same image from above but from different angle.

What was used originally for the side effects?

Someone told me that the metal pipes etc were originally a manifold of some sort used in aircraft. I've been searching ebay, aircraft, and turbine websites. Anyone know where any of the components come from?
Thanks!

RE: Vehicle differences

Thanks, buddy. The second picture is one I haven't seen before.

Also, I've discovered that the picture above with the yellow object and the hoses on the bottom is definately an electric version from Six Flags.

RE: Vehicle differences

I talked to my contact at United Nuclear who was consulted on the jet design for the '89 batmobile and he said the following,
"At one time they really wanted to see if a turbine engine would work in the vehicle as it was configured.... and it wouldn't - so they just attached used aircraft parts here and there to make it look functional."

I asked him if he could identify any of the parts used and this is what he said,

"The red & Blue fittings are standard AN flare fittings & stainless steel braided hose. Looking at the placement, they appear to be the hydraulic brake lines. Everything else in the photo appears to be parts of exhaust manifolds and exhaust pipe from various sources."

RE: Vehicle differences

Hey, I found this a really interesting post, and just for fun I pulled up the blueprints and sure enough, the blue-lithographs actually show the pipes from the top and side views. So there you go.

RE: Vehicle differences

I'm not clear on which way they are arranged on the blueprints?..

RE: Vehicle differences

So Tim,
What's your plan for the go-cart?
Which version are u going to follow?

RE: Vehicle differences

The picture on the right (original post above) seems to be the configuration used in the movies so I will go with that. The picture on the left is a Six Flags car and the other shown in this thread is an OnStar car.
