Cockpit question

I saw batman returns and looking at the cockpit, I didn't see any gear shift.
So I would assume the car is automatic(?)

Can someone who has the car tell me what those 3 gears are for then?

RE: Cockpit question

I never saw any more than 1 throttle in the movie. This dash is just a replica that someone made, not the one from the movie. But in answer to your question about these other shifters, I have no idea.

RE: Cockpit question

i would assume that they control such distinctive less subtle functions as the car's 360 degree rotational pivot stand that he uses in the beginning of "Returns" .Lets not forget that this is the freakin Batmobile; Lord knows there's plenty it can do that isn't technically shown in the movie. Those levers may also adjust pressure for the turbine or hold specific gear ratios, something all automatics do anyway.

hope that helps, if not sorry.

kev.

RE: Cockpit question

The car you show in the picture is actually a Jay Ohrburg replica. The real car has an aircraft throttle quadrant on the transmission tunnel. And the real shifter is located on the driver’s sidekick panel.

RE: Cockpit question

So is there a difference between the interiors between Batman and Batman Returns. I remember the dash being a little flashier in Returns when Bats is trying to find the bomb and is tearing the car apart.

I just though the dash looked a little plain in Batman for such a flashy car. However, I'm sure if close up shots of the dash were required, then a separate detailed "show" dash would have been created and filmed outside of the car (a la Knight Rider).
