RE: Fun with a bandsaw

Looks like something I used to do when I was a kid...obviously I spent a lot of time in the naughty corner.
Looks like a cool little project.

It's DEFINTELY a cool project. This info will be extremely helpful to anyone wanting to scratch make a body! Tim, you're the man!

Brilliant idea Tim. Any updates? If you are using this to make a larger scale model of the car, don't forget about the inaccuracy on the AMT model at the trunk.

Thanks. No, I haven't done anything with it yet. I think the general shape of the trunk is correct, it's just the vents and the outline of the deck lid that are off. those wouldn't be incorporated in the station formers anyway...

Any updates Tim? I'm with you. If I ever get a body, it'll most likely be because I made it, so I'm definitely interested in this!

No, I haven't gone any further with it. Cutting it up was the fun part. Scanning and tracing all the sections is very time consuming.

I had a thought the other day. I think I could have sliced the whole thing horizontally. Of course if I wanted to translate that to full scale each section would have to be made up of several pieces of 4 x 8 foam.

Dave, you were going to see if you could pull cross section from your CAD file. Any chance you might still do that?

Dave, that really would rule if you were able to do that! Then those who wanted to scratch build would have as accurate a start as possible.
