RE: Random thought...

Wow. I didn't expect to get this many replies. But ok. Did anyone else feel that the storyline in BB sort of parallelled the one in Batman? Batman's just getting started, he has a girl that he has to save, some psycho is gassing the city, he eludes the cops to take the girl to the cave to do whatever our imagination is limited to. I didn't like the fact that the origin of the bad guy, in this case Scarecrow, wasn't explained like it was in the other films, but I do like that there was more background on Wayne, but maybe too much. My kid brother said 'not enough scenes with Batman. Too much boring crap with Bruce Wayne'. I agree. It seemed forever before Bats made his onscreen appearance. Also I didn't like that Bruce had to "borrow" the equipment from Wayne Enterprise rather than make them himself. It was too technological IMO for Batman. But on the upside of it all, it came out a hell of lot better than the abomination that was B&R. Also, did anyone see the resemblance between Christian Bale and Christopher Reeves? I can't supply pics but DH if you would be so kind. Batmobile, a.k.a. the Tumbler, was alright and had some kool gear, expecially when he went stealth riding between the cops. That was sweet. And I did get a chill when Bale said 'I'm Batman'. Good action sequences though. It was a good action movie, not my favourite Batman flick though.

Well, the DO explain it. See, in the beginning he is just some random crazy guy doing experiments on inmates. That is as deep as it goes in the beginnins. After that, however, during the whole big "Gotham is going down" phase of the movie, they clearly show the Scarecrow emerge as the dominant character over Crane, as a result of too much exposure to his own gas.

"Also I didn't like that Bruce had to "borrow" the equipment from Wayne Enterprise rather than make them himself. It was too technological IMO for Batman."

Ummmm... In the comic books Batman gets a LOT of his stuff from WE. In fact, the comic books are VERY technological. He is always "stealing" from his own company to supply his arsenal of high tech gadgetry.

RE: Random thought...

I grew up watching the movies. Although it was never stated whether or not he made his own equipment or got it through WE, it just seems to make more sense that he made it to me. And although Fox is a trusting guy, he could easily put 2 and 2 together and figure out that Bruce is Batman. As far as the Scarecrow, he wasn't really a dominant enemy as we have seen in the other films. Which that scores points for originality. He was in the mix with Falcone and Rhas al Goul (spelling?) and the League of Shadows.
It was good to see the fact that, because Batman is just starting his fight against crime, he isn't completely battle-harden and infallible. That makes it easier to relate.
I understand what Nolan what Nolan was trying to accomplish. He was basically putting the comic book/cartoon on the big screen. Burton was going for a more original approach as far as differing from the comic. And Schumacher was out to to ruin it all. Maybe if I can free up another 3 hours I will watch it again.

Not trying to start a hate argument here.

RE: Random thought...

Burton was going for non superman approach. First draft of the screenplay was in chronological order much like Superman. He didn't want to do another Superman and that's why Batman is introduced from the beginning of the movie. Nolan did exact opposite and I remember reading him saying he wanted it to be like Superman. So neither one is the right approach but I like the Tim Burton approach better.

Also, while Bale was a good Bruce Wayne, he just wasn't a good Batman. His voice was just too forced. When he recited what Rachel told him earlier at the Arkham Asylum it was just terrible. His lips were forcibly moving and the audio was definitely messed with to make him sound cool.

RE: Random thought...

Most likely one of the few who went to see it on opening night, then back the next night at Manns in Hollywood. (Was a Batman kinda weekend. I'd dropped the first Rodent off in LA.)

And probably the only one you know who blew 10G's on the suit and the Ducatti. Right?

But I have to admit, the suit has been more fun than the bike.
