Machine guns

Ok, so in the movie, the flaps blow off, up come the machine guns and they fire an outline into the door so the batmobile can bust through with no problems. This would indicate the machine guns can move back and forth and up and down...

How did he steer the guns?

RE: Machine guns

In the real world the guns don't move, they are hard pointed. Anything is possible in the movies.

RE: Machine guns

Looks like all you would need is a servo motor to control each gun. Just like motors used to steer remote control cars. If you wanted them to go left/right you just want simple analog servos, if you want left/right by degrees that controller is turned then you want digital servos... or something like that. I worked at Radioshack for 3 years and talked to someone else about this before. Digital steering on remotes is by degree that controller is turned, the more you turn the more it turns. While analog is going to turn 45 degrees left or right no matter how little or how much you turn the controller. If you want to acheive the up/down motion you would have to go with some bidirectional servos like used in large model helicopters I believe. They basically have two servos mounted to one shaft... so that might answer the control issues. Once again I'm not an engineer... just a nerd that worked at Radioshack forever and reads up on anything electronic or science based.

RE: Machine guns

Is this what you are talking about? If so they are always like that. Someone said they thought that they could be steps for getting in and out of the car. But rest assured the tires are in deed touching the ground.

RE: Machine guns

Okay so you did see that the tires are touching the ground, right? Sorry sometimes I can't stop myself.
