Cool shots of the Hotwheels 1:18

These were posted on the RPF not too long after they hit stores. Just thought they were pretty sweet, especially the first and third.

It's a sweet car. I'll be getting one for Christmas - one way or the other.... the die cast that is. The only thing I hate - and they do this on most die cast models - is the black spots on the light lenses. You'd think there could be a etter way to attach those than that - so that you didn't have thos edumb black spots in the lenses. Anyway, none of them have figured it out yet.

They also re-released the car this year. It's limited to 3000 models and it is gloss black with all Chrome side mechanics. looks bad to me.

When Dave didn't have a life and actually hung out here some, he said that those spots weren't supposed to show. There was supposed to be a chrome backing behind the lens but it was cut due to cost.

Define "engine cover". The front turbine slides out and is detailed on the stock models. I saw the ones on ebay with the led's. The tail lights looked great. How does it look in person? Worth the cost? I may just do the LED's myself....

the rear cover sorry ... I can try again takin some pics of the car ... but its really been a pain to get a good pic of it. For 2 reasons. One daylight pics you cant see the leds very well and in the dark the leds are to bright. I dont know how to use my digital that well yet But I think I will try it again tonight.

Dale, dark shots are tough. I'd reccommend taking a pic in a dark room, with the lED's lit up. Set up a desk light and angle it so that it gives a little light to the model, but not enough that it drowns out the LED's. If you set your digital on a steady surface and the use the timer feature, you can sit the camera down, and get your hands away from it. It'll take the pic (without flash of course) and you should be good. You've got to have digitals steady to take low light shots and avoid blurring. Give it a shot!

Ok I will give it a try tonight thanks for the help I always wanted a good pic of it. Even the guy I bought it from had some crappy pics of it lol. I wish I could remember how to spell his name but it was somthin like this ...

Ikenin Imprindora

I think he was in Japan also but not for sure its been more then a year now that I think about it.

I think i might even try turning my stock one out with leds ... its just got some big ass battery in it. I would like to see a tumbler done like that.

I forgot I was gonna take pics of it but I found an older day light pic of it from right after I got it. You can kinda see where the front lights have been drilled out for the lights behind it. Then I also found the other pic the maker of the car had. Mine lights up exactly like the ones in these night pics. (sorry about the dust on the case)

I like that dash. Mine has no dash lights but has a blue led in there instead. I like the dash lights alot better. was it done by the same guy ?

RE: Cool shots of the Hotwheels 1:18

I won mine for like $65.00 ...
It would be so easy to make one for so much less though. Im gonna convert my stock version in the next few weeks or as soon as I can find a good battery and wire setup done. 4 leds for the rocket lights , leds for the brakes , leds for the front lights and thats it the on and off switch sits behind the passenger and driver seat.

The same guy who did mine did this one thats up for sale for $120.00 usd. I think its a bit to much and Im not a fan of the battle damaged version of the car but he is doing dash lights in the car now that look pretty good. About as good as the ones you posted before. Only reason I like this one more is the blue led is not in the cockpit anymore like mine. It looks more realistic now.

That picture of the light-up dash isn't from an eBay auction, and isn't even a 1:18 scale hotwheels Batmobile....its from the Japanese site Batmobile Factory and the model is the 1/25 scale AMT version.

Guess I need to start labelling my pictures with names so I don't get them messed up!! Naming a pic bat1593001.jpg isn;t very helpful.
