Both the kilmer and Clooney cars were sculpted out of clay. Norton bridges were used to check for symmetry, and form. Yes, computer based machinery cuts the bulk out, but then human hands do the rest. With skilled sculpting you need not get into sanding, or filing like doing the foam thing. Clay should be as nearly finished as a well painted car body. Wood and foam are used only as armatures on the TFX batmobiles. The great thing about clay is that if you go in too deep, you can add it back on. With foam carving it's gona be a pain if you go in too deep on any area. Also fine mechanical detail is more practical with clay. Check out www.dullam-causey.com
