Hey Tim, thanks for posting these. You can see that the "gold" is a bit too "bling" right now and is also on parts that should just be black. The jet nozzle needs a bit more color but the detail looks good. The opening canopy is kind of a problem and the first pic is in the furthest back position. I also think the black will get knocked down a bit and become more flat. Going back to one of my other emails I think they still did an incredible job considering the reference and timing issues with the film. ...from me. I highly recommend getting this one.

Dave . Is the dashboard just a sticker like the Keaton car?

And can we assume there will be 3 different versions of these coming within a year or two?

Wayne, no decals as far as I can tell...the interior is just molded black. Again, this isn't a production piece and i know they're changing a few things before August. Also, I noticed a few sites stating the wheels turn, no way man.

Greetings everyone, I am new to this board but have been a lurker for a little while. Really amazed at the talent and experience here. I hope that you will allow me to share in the joys of being here!

Now for my small contribution.
It's about the 1|18 Begins Batmobile. Just wanted to let everyone know that they are available for shipment at ehobbies.com. I just ordered 2 of them.

Kenny

Hey Everyone! Found this site earlier this week and have been lurking around before posting.

When you mention that the wheels don't turn - are you referring to steering vs. spinning???

Sorry - late night w/ my infant daughter and my mind isn't up to speed this morning. just a bit confused.

I love it when new people come around. Welcome Jester23!!

From what I understand there is no steering. Just way to complex for a toy and to expensive for Mattle. Dave can tell you all about the profit margin. Again, welcome.

Thanks, Jack!

I went over the ehobbies site and the Tumbler is out of stock. This guy apparently has one on Ebay, but I can wait another month before paying close to $50 for one - I'd rather get two!!

I walked into the gym yesterday to start coaching one of my classes, and as I was walking in one of my students' little brothers was playing with a big Tumbler toy from Target or something (I do not know who makes it, its the one with the red triangle buttons on top for sounds effects I think?) right in the middle of the viewing room. I actually stopped and asked if I could play with it for a minute before I coached my class. Lol. All the parents must think I'm nuts.

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Is there any update on how this is going to look or an official release date?

I saw one for sale on Ebay, but I'm questioning it since in the previous posts, it looks like there were still some last minute changes/corrections going on.....

Thanks!

There wasen't enough time in the schedule to fix the paint issues, so I'm guessing it'll be a running change later in the fall. The pics I took of an earlier model are the same as production. Time to get a small brush and some hobby paint and get rid of the gold bling. I received 2 from Ehobbies about a week and a half ago, didn't anyone else get one?

eHobbies website says it arrives in August.
How did you get it already?

I put the link in the collection page.
I really need to update the collection page to include all other hot wheels toys that came out.

I don't mind having to touch up the paint, but the front tires still look a bit oversized...is that a planned correction as well?

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

I'll have to get myself one of these Hot Wheels Tumblers... it'll look nice along-side my '89 Keaton car.
eHobbies, huh? Hmmmm...

Has anyone else here received the Tumbler model kit by Bandai?
I brought in two right from Japan, and have built one... awesome detail (as the prototype pics show...) Proportions seem dead-on.
It's tiny, of course... required the use of tweezers and such here and there during assembly (although nimble, partly from a lot of guitar playing, I haven't got the smallest/thinest of fingers...) but the payoff is great.
I decided NOT to try to re-do the black with an airbrush (it would have been my first time airbrushing...) so I just used the supplied black-moulded parts, and detail painted the brass/silver bits.
I'm thinking I'll do some practise painting, and then do the second model of the Tumbler in the Camo paint scheme...

If anyone wants, I'll find a place to put some pics of the completed Bandai model so that I can link them here - or is there some type of hosting here? I just noted the 'Image upload' control above.

BTW: this is my first post - nice place. Caters to my instant obsession with the Tumbler. Just got the smaller Tyco R/C yesterday, too: had to bring it in from the US, as it's nowhere to be seen around here in Canada at this point... and the big 'purple' one as well...

So the steering wheel actually turns the front tires around?

Die cast vehicle from the new Batman movie - Batman Begins. The ultimate in automotive authenticity! These 1:18 scale cars come fully loaded with realistic details, right down to the steering wheel that turns the front tires! Slick paint jobs and genuine engineering genius make these cars blow the doors off every other car on the road! You'll love everything about Hot Wheels 1:18 scale vehicles!

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Hello All,

I received my Tumber from Ehobbies.com on Monday. First impressions are that it just isn't as "cool" as the Hotwheels '89 replica. My major gripes, not including the gold accents and the other inaccurate details, already discussed in this thread, are that despite what the description reads...the front wheels *definitely* don't steer. They "roll" but that is it. Second, I know the sliding canopy had to be an engineering nightmare on the "real" car, let alone on a scale model...but it is almost not worth having it open at all. It barely opens enough to even see *part* of the interior. The model comes with a "rubber band" that keeps tension on the piece where the windsheild is. I cut the rubber band thinking it was keeping the pieces from sliding back further. It doesn't. Not sure I'd recommend cutting the band, even though it does look bad! The interior that you *can* see is very basic, no decals, no painted details, just black plastic. It'll be easy to detail someday if I ever take it apart though because what's there does look fairly accurate.
On the positive side, it does look pretty cool sitting next to the '89, and Hotwheels did a decent job on the overall shape for $23.
Just my opinion
Steve
