I just did this to give myself an idea of wheelbase conmparisons based on a 1982 limo and one of the blue prints here. IT is one long bat car.

RE: perspective

I often wondered if a limo was the same wheelbase. Is that to scale or is it just for fun???

RE: perspective

So why not use 1 of them instead of lengthening any chassis's. Those things are everywhere. U can pick 1 up for about 2k

"The Fleetwood Limousine was redesigned in 1977 to use the new 144.5 in wheelbase D-body."

Is that on a frame or is it unibody?

This wheelbase can be found on 1977 - 1984.

RE: perspective

Not sure, everyone seems to have a different answer. It would be easier to shorten it then lengthen though.

RE: perspective

is the limo in the 1st post a custom stretch or factory limo? I ask because the wheel base might be different.

Ebay fleetwood's

There are a lot and you could get one cheap with a 5.0 in it. This would be sweet if it worked out....

The whole "Love her - gotta do it" thing is really annoying. Not to mention your avatar. Are you sure you're not a chick?

Actually it would be pretty easy to cut out 3 inches of the frame and the driveshaft.

RE: perspective

It would work but you still have to set the motor back, so personally I would pick up a regular size caddy w/frame and stretch the front ,infront of the motor mounts to the correct wheelbase lenght so you can retain the correct engine near the cowl position and wheelbase length instead of all the way up front over the front wheels near the front turbine hole opening. Who understands what I'm talking about?
No need by the way for that corporate stretch I see posted for , would be a waste of money a regular size two door coupe or four door sedan caddy would work.

RE: perspective

Not for nothing, and I know this is gonna get some guys on here hot, but, why not just start with a tube chassis since you have to do so many modifications anyway? Just for starters you have to cut up and dismantle the donor, relocate the engine and about 1,000 other things. Start with a tube chassis, make it as long as it has to be, put whatever motor mounts you are using in it and set the suspension however high or low it needs to be. There are a lot of shops out there that will do tube chassis starting at $2000.00 I am going to have whatever chassis there is for the tumbler built from a 4 x 4 shop that specializes in building rockcrawlers.

RE: perspective

That is what I would want to do if I were building a car. This is also what Bob C has done with his '95. I may build another small car for the kids and I plan to fabricate the chassis when I do.
