orignal vs. returns car - differences

As I was trying to get pics of the original 89 car I started to get a bit confused. Some pics are obviously the original, some are from Returns and some are the Onstar car. Other than what I've listed below, what changes did they made from the original Batman car for the Returns movie? I'm especially interested in color changes and such. (The turbine was metallic in the original, was it painted in the second?)

Added wipers
changed body paint
clown trippers
the "handle" on the orignal was silver and in Returns it appears to be black. (see pic)

Add to the list!!

Well the only non paint related differences I saw on the Returns car was the windshield wipers mounted on the roof canopy area. You can see them in the scene when batman is watching the Penguin in the hall of records from the batmobile. As for the color differences, the main body was a much glossier shade of black, which basically covered everything on the car, including the rims (with the exception of the bat logo centers were left silver/alluminum).

I resently modded a 1/18 hot wheels batmobile into the Returns car, and I gotta say, they look very sweet next to each other

Signature under construction, expect delays.

"The turbine was metallic..." Have we not learned anything from Jack? It's not a "turbine"... Ummm... what's it called again, Jack?

Even though they didn't open in the first movie, did the Machine gun doors/frisbee tossers open the other way in original design? It looks like a handle that would pull back towards the front of the car, not the opposite when the 2nd movie was shooting disks.

The handle was metal, noseus phayllicus turbinus was also metal, and the gas caps in an early photoshoot, but then all painted black or darkened for the film.

Here's the thing I like the most. The switch with the little yellow lines around it opens the canopy and shoots the guns in the first movie,
then in the second it shoots disks, trips clowns, turns the car, and transforms the car into the batmissle! WOW What a switch!!! :)

Maybe it's touch sensitive. Press lightly and the canopy opens. Touch harder and it shoots discs, then guns, harder yet - self destruct.

Yes, that's known as the "magic button"...

I don't believe that is a handle on the frisbee door, it's the hinge.

I always thought that the side panel looked as if it were meant to be hinged at the front and the rear was a handle. In fact I had planned on doing the GA that way but have since changed my mind.

I agree with you Jack. So, what did you change your mind to?

The reason the one button controlled everthing is simple. Lets say Batmans cruising along enjoying the night (he does that from time to time). When suddenly a pack of...whatever pop out. He goes to hit the batmobile's anti backguy thingamabob button, but the car rolls over a bump. He then advertanly flicks like twelve buttons at once. Suddenly missles, guns, balloons and candy fire out of the batmobile.
Now if he presses one button to arm the weapon. Then flick the switch with the hazard switch to activate it. You wouldn't have all that mayham.
We all saw it in returns. He hit like all the buttons. Then it split up.
This is what I do with my spare time. Find meaning in useless things.

Funny.
Maybe we can incorporate that into our own 89's - the candy button. So, if you happen to get caught in a parade you can hit the button and launch candy at kids. Of course the throwing mechanism would have to be adjusted just right - too much pressure and kids would have candy punching holes though their hands. That would be an interesting parade though....

It's not a handle Jack, it's a hinge.

Wanna see a pic of the one I boosted off the film car? When you see how it's attached, you'll crack up.

It's down in the warehouse, I'll shoot some pics of it tomorrow during dinner break.

The car in Returns sounded like a jet. The shields were different. And it may be just my imagination, but the Returns car seemed to have less curve in it.

I would rather shoot candy through them then a bat disc. Then the "oops" sounds more real.
Whats the hing for?
