Most Batman fan films I've seen are pretty bad, but this one is worth watching. Not a bad batmobile in it either.

hey sly,
This is one of the best fan films I have seen shot and edited with classic film techniques.
(Static setting shots, long shots, closer shots, closeups, etc. mostly edited with cut transitions.)
Otherwise, it suffers from the usual slow pacing and lack of moving camera techniques.

The modern big budget action film audience looks at a fan film and even some of the older Batman films/serials, etc. shot with classic film and editing techniques and knows something is missing but most viewers could not tell you exactly what is missing.

What is missing are known as moving camera shots where the camera is in motion while filming the action/characters/scene elements that may be moving as well. Fan films lack the resources to use most moving camera techniques and those that use one or two usually use them too many times and create redundancy.
Examples of moving camera techniques
(Dolly shots, rail mounted dolly shots, Steady Cam gyro-stabilized camera shots, camera crane shots, carrousel/static/moving platform shots, aerial/truck/car/boat etc. gyro-stabilized camera shots, etc.)

To be successful in satisfying the audience of a modern big budget action film it must have both most of the classical film techniques and many of the moving camera techniques. vertigo
