Excellent! Looking forward to all of them, especially the 1:50 scales. I have nearly all the newer Corgi Batmobiles, and those should look great together.

A Super Elite?!?! Hard to believe they are making one better than this, awesome!!! Thanks Tony

"What Evil Force Drives...THE CAR"

You're right, my bad. That makes even more sense, too.

"What Evil Force Drives...THE CAR"

I didn't mean for you to think I was correcting you, Ryan...it is you who is correct. Most of the posters include the line WHAT EVIL DRIVES, I just don't know why the force part never made it onto the poster...what makes even less sense is what is on some of the Euro posters;

(Spain) Asesino Invisible= Invisible Assassin

(Italy) La Macchina Nera= A Black Automobile

(France) Enfer Mecanique= Hell Machine

(Germany) Der Teufel Auf Radern= The Devil On Wheels

If I translated these wrong, by all means someone correct me...but it's what I could come up with.

Matt -- Its cool, I knew what you meant

It seems like the Munsters Coach and the Batmobile (Adam West TV series) are two of the most commonly reproduced speciality TV/movie cars. The latter was a Barris car, right? I can't always remember which cars were and which weren't -- a lot of cars get credited to him that he had nothing to do with. That's a complement, in a way.

This is sort of off topic from The Car but it is in the vein of replicas of great cars. Has anybody ever heard of the famous 1947 Bentley Continental Mark VI convertible with coachwork by Franay? Only one was built. In 1999 the car was for sale via www.ebentley.com for $2.5 million US. It sold April 3rd, 2006 for $1,728,000. Is a replica of this prettymuch a pipe dream?

Hey Ryan...if there's one thing I've learned since becoming a member here is that nothing is impossible. Just about everyone here has some kind of talent or knowledge working with fiberglass, metal, etc. And I'm sure someone could help get you started, or at least pointed in the right direction.

If you are looking to build an exact replica of this Bentley, of course it may take a bit of time and hard work...but it can happen. You obviously have quite a taste for these cars with flowing fenders, large chrome grilles, and big headlights. Ever consider building one of your own design? Mocking up those fenders from fiberglass probably wouldn't be too painstaking. I would keep my eye out for one of those Zimmer kit cars that they build over 80's style Lincolns and Cadillacs and work off one of those, adding your own design touches.

Batmobile

You certainly don't want to get a new one and chop it up(unless you can afford one)...I saw one on ebay about a month ago that a guy was trying to part out...it had been sitting for a while, but I think if you can find one of these for cheap, it would make a great starter project for you.

Hey Matt! I know all about Zimmers. ^_~ And Tiffanys, Clenets, the other neo-classical cars etc. Zimmers are nice but when you look at them you can still see a Ford Thunderbird cab. Zimmer's current models are built from Ford Mustangs, I think. In terms of authenticity I think Thoroughbred Motors came the closest, at least when it came to Mercedes-Benz replicas. An example of their 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540R:

Batmobile

Thoroughbred Motors was in Florida the last I heard. Their website ( http://www.tbccoach.com/ ) seems to have disappeared. This forum talks about them, it sounds like they've gone out of business. http://www.kitcars.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1374

Thoroughbred could certainly have done a Bentley Franay replica. Know of anybody else who could do this? (The main companies like Zimmer are into doing their own thing.)

Hey Rage, I'm with Lincoln I think it would be cool to do your own thing. Take parts or ideas of the different cars you love and make a Ragemobile. I was going to build a 1934 Boattail Auburn four seater replica before I started these damn batmobiles. It might be a good base for you to start from since you can pick one up fairly inexpensive and then drive it around and slowy do the reincarnation thing. I love the long flowing fenders, a low stance, short split windshields, split rear window. I like to have the details from old cars or airplane stuff. Then as you drive it around and someone pulls up and ask you what the heck your car is you can say a 1934 Ragemobile.....Can you dig it?BWD
