The seats in the Tumbler are obviously custom, but I was considering the possibility of using a production seat as the basis for building something similar. This might be more work than just building a seat from scratch, but I'm not sure. Anyone spend any time researching this, and find anything similar in shape?

You could probably use some Recaros as your base, and then build all the exterior "stuff" around it

I have racecar seat in my tumbler, and I think it's very uncomfortable. I'm actually modifying a nice but sheik looking gel filled office chair. getting rid of the race seat. the reality of copping those art desgins, is that you really don't have the room for it in a movie-accurate tumbler. I did a bunch of research into comfort. I have more room in my car than they did in the movie cars. and there is no way you can get the exact interior set to fit into that cab, with a v-8 engine mounted in reverse. no way. you can get bit's and pieces, but not that exact chair. also, I found that you want the seat in the tumbler mounted HIGH. This gets you a tad bit better visability I found. But of course it has to be based on the size of the person driving it.

Thanks for your input guys, I was thinking about office chairs also, just because I found some that somewhat look the part. I'm also thinking about some mustang seats.

Seat upholstry isnt as complex as you think is. I plan on using an existing base And then printing blueprints of the seat out to get the design and shape of the seat correct. Then get an upholster to custom cover the chair. Using the templates I can cutout seat foam pieces to match then just upholster over it.
