Hello! I'm fairly new to the forums, but I figured I'd start my own thread for my (slow) tumbler build. I have a TON of questions so I hope some of the builders out there can help. I just started acquiring materials, so far i've got 80' of 1.5 round tubing, 10' 2x12, a 2 pc drive shaft from an 88-98 gm ext cab, and battery box that i built for another project but ended up not using. lol I'll be purchasing more tubing when my budget allows. My first question is, I've been studying the chassis that was built in Australia? and was wondering what size square tube they used for the perimeter, it looks to be 2x2? Next question is how are you guys getting your measurements? I've been going off of the factory specs of the Hoosier 94/15-15 front tires as a baseline and making my measurements from that, but I can only get so close. Do you guys just round to the easiest number and hope you get pretty close? Such a pain in the ass to try and build a car I've never seen but in pictures, BUT! it will be extremely rewarding to see it finished.
Since I haven't started the build just yet, here's a photo of my battery box. haha
-Edit- Apparently it's been a few years since I've posted a picture on a forum and I should be classified as a noob again. heres the direct link until I learn the ways again.

I'm in OKC too. I live between Moore & Norman. I am working on a 1/2 scale tumbler and 1/2 scale batpod for my son. I am hoping to get the batpod done by Halloween. I had to stop working on the tumbler and dedicate most of my time on the batpod. I'm also working on the Batman costume for my 3 year old son as well. I've finished sculpting the cowl and part of the costume. I will cast it soon. I'm not experience in metal working. I have done mostly woodworking. I am trying to teach myself how to weld. I've built a mockup version of the batpod in wood and pvc pipes held together by hot glue. I've tried to work out all the steering and minor details before I go to metal. I am having a hard time getting 3 inch diameter pipes. I check out the place on Sunnylane and 89th, but all they got are pipes that is in 30 feet long. Home Depot or Lowes don't carry larger than 2 inches. My plan is to make the 1/2 scale batpod, run on a 24 or 36 volt motor. Then I will go back to working on the tumbler. I got most of the tumbler done in wood/cardboard. I will reenforce it underneath and fiber glass it. The chassis is from a go kart. I got four 23 in lawn mower tires for the back and two 18 in for the front. It is running on a 6.5 horse gas motor. If this is successful, I will try to build a full scale batpod and perhaps a tumbler as well. I could use a lot of help and if you need anything, please let me know. Like I said, I'm still a beginner.

I've ordered from speedymetals.com before, you can get round stock by the foot, shipped to you.
The will to act.

Very cool! I'm actually in Del City but work in downtown OKC. I definitely want to come check it out so I can get a good idea on how it looks in person. I've been in metalworking for 10 years so if you have any questions or need any help let me know.

jenniferjuniper (8/24/2012) I'm in OKC too.....
OH WHAT THE CRAP! I was just there like 2 weeks ago! If I had known this (or remembered, whatever the case may be lol) I would have asked to stop in and see your progress in person. I never pass up the chance to see a CLTC member in person.

Whats everyones thought on running 46" military tires in the rear? I've found them for less than half of what Super Swampers run. The main differences being 2" taller, and they use a 20" rim rather then 15".
