What's going on!
I'm also new, on an iPad (and probably the youngest guy on here at 20 haha) but I've decided to build a Tumbler and a Batpod, and try and work them into my school work for my thesis at some point. It's going to be a long process and I'm no stranger to mechanical and electrical work, but hydraulics and computer programming and foreign to me. I think I'm doing the Batpod first, and I'm going to use google sketch up to start rendering it before I go and build it. Never used that either so there's going to be a learning curve I think...
Anyway I digress, idk if I can be any help but if I can be let me know. I'm not an expert at anything but I am a mechanic that specializes in old school muscle, so if your having trouble there feel free to ask!
I'll also probably be asking a lotta questions so keep an eye out.
Good luck!

At some point when my build "takes off" I will start posting some pics of my build. I was also in a similar situation. Unfortanetly their is no build tutorial for the tumbler. I will say this, the route I chose was to build a mockup with a wood frame and Fiber board that can be purchased from the big box stores simiar to another unfinished build on here. Then when I'm happy with the mockup I will take the blueprints and trace them on to steel panels and cut them out. There are many ways to build the tumbler and my suggestion is to start with the outer body first then work your way in at leaste from a mockup standpoint. It would be a shame to spend all the work on the vehicle and have it look disproportionate. I have my mockup mostly complete and once I get a 220 hook up for my welder and plasma cutter I will start work on the frame. I also plan on using a 1 ton chevy dually as the donor vehicle so I can use the engine trany and rear axle as it should be heavier then a standard rear axle as well as I think I can register the tumbler through the doner vehicle. Also another thing to consider is the batmobile for most intensive purposes is not road legal in most states...(If you live in the states...)I have scaled my tumbler down to about 90% of the actual size (Iowa's max vehicle width is 8ft 6in) so I can have mine registered and being 10% smaller won't be that big of a deal. Not saying you will get pulled over most county cops might pull you over at of curiosity but the Highway patrol doesn't care if your santa clause and the fines can get pretty hefty if you get pulled over and have absolutely no vehicle registration to give them depending on where you live if you plan on driving it alot. As far as my background I'm more technically oriented and have little mechanical background so I think this will be fun. Also I would suggest downloading google sketchup and playing around with it to get familar with the interface. Sketchup is great because you can build objects to scale and then dimension / tape measure the objects. You will also likely need pepakura if you plan on printing your own templates.
