Do you guys put afterburners on these cars. I was looking at some. But see not real flames out of any of the kits. How would you make a working afterburner. You do use real jet engines. So how do you make flames.

Doesn't look like the onstar replica had anything set up for the afterburner.
Compare that to the official movie shot.

These images are great! Good close-ups like these seem to be hard to find. Any more?

Yeah, I went to that directory too and dl'd them all. I was hoping there were more of the "movie" version too but it's in the images directory of this site which I couldn't access to see if there were more...

all you need for an "afterburner" is and exhaust tube (a/b body), airflow into the "body", a sustaining ring for the flame, spraybars (fuel injectors), an ignition source that creates a spark hot enough to ignite the fuel, and the only tricky part is the VEN (or Variable Exhaust Nozzle). but in order for the VEN to work that's the complicated part.

i dont really see the point of having the afterbunner, ill be using the batmobile im making for chairty shows for chidreen so i cant ahve it for safty reasons, but even if i wasent i cant really see the point, i know a guy that has a 66 batmobile and has the flame out shoot out the back and i dont even see the point for it there, on my 89 what i decided i would do is put a glow plate there so i can program what i want to show up, that way i could program the batsymoble or a series of words. im hopeing it will look cooler then it sounds.

sg1star,
I can see your point of not wanting the afterburner.
But after all, this is batmobile and it's supposed to be filled with all sorts of gadgets.
Anyway, here's all 3 different shots of afterburner in one settings:

I would have to agree with sg1star. I think the point of the 89 is to be impactful, and it does a fine job without a flamethrower on the back. Mine is not going to have an afterburner when I am done. I might put some neon tubing hidden in there though, so that all you see is a red glow that gives off a "warm" feeling. Who knows?
By the way sg1star... I got your e-mail, and I am e-mailing you back right now. I do appreciate all the info, seems like you've really got your stuff together. Great work on the mock buildup! I'd like to talk to you on the phone soon if I can. I'll send my number in the e-mail.

Hey guy, you can try this link: http://www.dragon-exhaust.com/Content/super.html
perhaps that is what you are looking for. This is designed to work with your ordinary exhaust but be creative.
